Well I know it isn't transfer season just yet but already we have big name players moving like Mario Gotze from Borissa Dortmund to Bayern or announcing their intent to move like Yaya Toures announcement that he wants to leave Man City but wants to remain in England.

Lewandowski's agent has said that he's agreed terms with a club and will leave Dortmund at the end of the season. Munich? United?

For United, I'd do the following:
SELL
Rooney £35m
Nani £15m
Anderson £10m
Ferdinand Release on free
Macheda £5m
Total Recouped = £65m

BUY
Bale £50m
Falcao £40m
Vermaelen £15m
Alex Song £10m
Total spent = £115m

Net Spend £50m

Reduction in wages £140k per week x52 weeks = £7,280,000 x 5 years = £36,400,000.

More than pays for itself plus strengthens the squad massively taking us up to Barca, Real and Bayern's level.

Very tempted to go for Lewandowski after last nights performance plus he's younger than Falcao but Falcao is special.

Rio could give us another good year but with Scholes retiring this year or next, Giggs probably next year, Rooney uncertain to stay long term and Ferguson's age (realistically 1 or 2 more years), we need to transition in an orderly way leaving the next manager a brilliant team.

Rooney ain't going anywhere

I wouldn't touch Vermaelen, Falcao and Song I'd rather take
Bale, Kroos, Stootman

Dortmund may jack the asking price up to 40 million pounds for Lewandowski. Bayern are said to be ready to torpedo United's deal.

An interesting fact; Big Sam Allardyce nearly bought Lewandowski for a cool 3 million pounds back in 2010 while at Blackburn. The problem was his chicken rearing owners wouldn't give him the cash.

Meanwhile, West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that Lewandowski is the one that got away.

Allardyce tried to sign the striker for just £3m in 2010 when he was at Blackburn. However, he failed to convince the Ewood Park board to stump up the cash.

Allardyce said: ‘I think about it every time I see him play. I think the board said we are not going to commit that amount of money. It was three or four million Euros. There were a lot of people looking at him at that time but we had the edge over everyone else because of the attraction of the Premier League. It didn’t happen and it will be about £40m after Wednesday night.’

The way things are going for Dortmund I won't be surprised if they make a move for Suarez

No he has a 31 million euro release clause.

Lewa dodged a bullet :D

I think Guardiola wants him. Pep is going to clear out Robben, Muller and Gomez. He's got Gotze and he will go for Suarez.

What was I smoking cos I swear you asked what I was smoking :D

Centre Back
People don't rate Vermaelen, but watch Barcelona go for him than everyone will say he's tops. There's very few players a Vidic's level and above, Thiago Silva, Pique, Kompany, Chielini, couple of Serie A players and a couple of others. Those cost too much and not available. Slightly below that level, not too many available or truly reliable. Vermaelen is a better choice than those potentially available like Hummels, Subotic, Ogbonna. Vermaelen can also cover at left back, so if Evra needs to be rested for a big game and we don't want to put young Butner in, Vermaelen slots in as a great choice.

Central Midfielder
We need someone strong to play next to Carrick but who can drive forward. There's not too many players who can do the role brilliantly like Viera, Gerrard, etc of the past. Song may not be at the top but he ticks a lot of the boxes we need. Strootman is untested and we need someone reliable.

Bale is ... BRILLIANT
Break the bank to get him

Striker
Compared to his talent, Rooney has delivered only 70% for United. It's time to move on. He will move if we get the right offer. I don't think PSG is realistic, because of the 75% tax rate considering Rooney earns 250k per week. Falcao is special. Have you watched him?

With these players, I'd play a 4-2-2-2 with the front players (whoever plays between RVP, Falcao, Bale, Wellbeck, Young) floating left, right, centre and terrifying opposition defences.

As far as I'm aware Lewandowski doesn't have a release clause.

He does. Lewa's agent came out on Thursday saying he had agreed a deal with a club which will satisfy Dortmund's demands. Meet the minimum release clause of 31m euros, plus their verbal agreement that he could leave if it's to a big club.

Remember he only has 1 year left on his contract. If United really want him, what usually happens is we'll try to haggle over the fee instead of paying the release clause then miss out like we've done so many times before.

Ye but his contract expires in 2014 and his not keen on renewing - better to sell than to lose him on a free transfer

@Boris Becker: that release clause is for Gotze @ 37 million Euro which translates to 31million pounds...

Yes I'm aware he has one year left on his contract but he doesn't have a release clause. I know last season United were looking at him for around 15mil but now he's valued at around 30.

I know Gotze release was 37 million Euros.

Although Dortmund are denying Lewa has a release clause, his agent has said he does. Who to believe? I don't care cos I want Falcao ;)

Guess we'll see when the club that signs him announces his signature :D
