The 2013 Transfer Rumours Thread

Barca bag Neymar. It's a bit of a gamble but could be worth it if he turns into the next big thing.

When Barca routed Milan 4-0 Villa was playing upfront with Messi having freedom to roam, so it could work like that. I also don't think Neymar would be incapable of excelling from a wide position either.

Ye but having Neymar playing out wide will just be a waste of talent and skills... that's like asking Villa to bench whilst Messi plays ;)

How is playing wide a waste of talent? Even Messi himself did very well playing wide with Eto'o central. Players like Ronaldo and Bale have also excelled playing wide and in football only one attacker can play central, it doesn't mean the rest of the attackers get wasted. Neymar's skill and man-beating ability could even be more useful from a wide area.

22 goals in 64 appearances... ( 2012-2013 season, in all competitions)
why would Chelsea ever sell TORRES?
He is surely not in the form we've seen him at during his Anfield days.. and that 50M price tag will always hang over his head!, but his stats are 2nd only to RvP this year!

better than Rooney, Walcott, Tevez, Aguero, Suarez, Lukaku, Ba, Berbatov, Podolski, Giroud...
FK Welbeck only scored 1 goal this season!!

LOL! Suarez is arguably one of the best forwards in Europe right now. The only names you can realistically mention in the same breath as Suarez are Falcao, Cavanni, Lewandowski, RVP and Messi. He and Lukaku wiped the floor with Torres this season.

And Welbeck was not used as an out-and-out forward. He was used as a wide player.

The Eto'o days were a while back. Messi's game has changed since then. He started as a wide player but now occupies the central channels, both for Argentina where he plays behind Aguero/Tevez and for Barcelona where he leads the attack.

Ronaldo and Bale are natural wide players, Neymar is not. Very different to excel in your natural position and be expected to excel in a position you are not familiar with. Not saying it can't be done though, but I still would not expect the same levels of performance.

Excuse me? Suarez scored 30 goals in all comps this season and in far less appearances than Torres too.

Since you're comparing a striker to wingers it would only fair to add assists.

Stats from ESPN Soccer net

Player/Goals/Assists/Starts/Ass+Goals per game

Torres 23 7 56 0.535714286
Giroud 17 10 39 0.692307692
Podolski 16 11 39 0.692307692
Wallcott 21 14 33 1.060606061

I can add that combined Giroud, Podolski, Wallcott didn't cost as much as Torres. :D:p

Are you a Madrid fan? :)

Barca gloat after beating Real to Neymar

Barcelona’s coach and players have lauded Brazilian sensation Neymar after his decision to join the Spanish champions over fierce rivals Real

You can also add in that the three of them combined won Arsenal sweet FA, whilst Torres won his third trophy with Chelsea... So yeah, I know which player I would have...

After Spending 92 mil the past season, Chelsea won the Europa League. You must be so proud. Yay a trophy!

Torres scored the majority of his goals in the europa league against second rate opposition. How many Prem goals did he score? I know the transfer fees you paid for torres was alot, therefore its hard to let him go, and you desperately want him to do well... but let it go. He is a flop

In the EPL he scored 14 in 64 appearences (20 subs) since his arrival so my initial thought was that he is a bit of a flop, but I forgot he's won 3 trophies so at 50mil he was quite the bargain.
