The 2016 Way Less Objectivity thread

Just make your own mayo at home. Healthier and better.

All you need is a hand/stick blender.

Break an egg into the beaker, add a pinch of salt, a teaspoon of mustard and a tablespoon of lemon juice (or some kind of vinegar, but use less if you do). Add one cup of oil. Push the blender all the way to the bottom of the beaker, turn it on and keep it at the bottom. Keep blending for a few seconds before slowly bringing the blender up. Et voila! Perfect mayonnaise.

I have always wanted to try this it sounds so yummy and love being able to control what goes into my food but I am not convinced eating raw eggs are safe and have never seen pasturized eggs for sale.

I've made proper mayo many times and never got sick. I think modern farming conditions are much better than they used to be, in terms of the safety of the resulting product. In fact, I remember reading somewhere that the whole salmonella thing was overblown.

Look for liquid egg. i.e. egg in a carton. Pretty sure that will be pasteurized.

You my friend have never been inside an industrial chicken battery then. Been in one once...one with sick chickens at that. Everything chicken related I eat needs to be morsdood.

50 down, 27 to go till initial goal.

105 this morning. So lost about 5 kg's since the start, which I'm happy with. Haven't really been doing cardio though just cut out carbs and sugar. I still need sweetener in my coffee though, but limit coffee to one or two cups a day down from four or five with two teaspoons of sugar each. Also dropped the pronutro with about three table spoons of sugar. Breakfast these days is four boiled eggs, along with whatever left over protein from the night before :)

With my tertiary education finished, I have been able to diet much more strictly.

Progress so far:
02/01/2016 -93.6kg
10/01/2016 -92.1kg
21/01/2016 -89.6kg
04/02/2016 -88.6kg

Method: Kilojoule Control (6500 a day) + weekend exercise (5 km parkrun)

Bear in mind that this time two years ago I was 125kg. Feeling as positive as Charlie Sheen.

If I may ask - What's your diet?

Hi, I'd be happy to provide the details.

Diet
Breakfast - 1 bowl of muesli (Jungle Oats muesli/Food Lover's muesli,etc) between 08h00 - 09h00
Lunch - half a tin of tuna spread across 6 provitas (I could probably drop this to 5, but 6 seems to be fine) between 12h00 - 13h00
Supper - 1 piece of cooked meat (steamed chicken breast, ostrich steak on the braai, etc) and a cup of broccoli between 18h00 - 20h00

During all of this I'm drinking 1 or 2 cups of coffee in the morning (no sugar), and then strictly water only.

Workout
I do this workout when I get home which is around 15h30, so it's the sweet spot between my lunch and my supper.

3 x 15 squats
3 x 15 pushups
3 x 15 mountain climbers
3 x 15 tricep dips
3 x 15 situps

I started off doing 2 sets of everything, but it's obviously gotten easier over time.
