The 2016 Way Less Objectivity thread

You will probably beat me to both targets....

With my buggered leg still healing I can barely walk, will be another few months before I can start cycling and weightlifting.

edit - but I will be doing my utmost to beat you

Similar - I have Sciatica, so walking is pretty damn sore. At the moment, it's OK, but when I exercise it gets worse. Also, my feet are in such pain because of all the weight.

I'm gonna have to do at least the first 20 or so kilograms by discipline and eating alone.

What about getting into a swimming pool?

I go three times a week to a sport rehab centre where I do rehab on the leg and exercise in a heated pool. Get's the blood flowing and I feel pretty great afterwards.

That would have worked, yes. I don't have any extra funds for stuff like that though. Had to cancel my gym contract last year coz my money is not lasting the month.

Sorry to hear guy. Hang in there

My breakfast protein shake is 13g carbs. Lunch is 4 pieces of rye bread (88g carbs).

I suppose I can make cauliflower bread...

That's heavy! I think I know the shake you're using, a mate suggested one similar with the same carb count, I use supashape Diet Whey ( 7.5g carb count ) and drop the rye bread. Rather have a salad, biltong , cheese or something else but that lunch in bread alone is half your carb count.

Yeah, however at the moment it is easy :P

Laziness trumps all else, as I only know how to braai, :P

No worries. Many of us are in the same position. :)

And losing a lot of weight will make it slightly better - my life insurance will come down a lot, for one. And the increased comfort of living in my body wouldn't hurt either.

You can do it, one day at a time.

True, my wife helps a lot with food prep. Maybe braai on the weekend but overcook and have leftovers for lunches. Some chops and wors would make great lunch snacks and I promise you, make a big batch of cauliflower, bacon, cheese and freeze it to have as a side, you won't look back.

Any recipes or instructions you can pass on to this Neanderthal?

Just quoting both of you because of the discussion you've been having.

@Kosmik Requiem follows a low fat calorie restricted diet. Some of the LCHF that you and me have been following won't work so lekker for him, because of the higher calorie counts. Remember what you doing and what he is doing is precisely the exact opposite of each other with the same goal :D

@Requiem have you considered LCHF?

I am trying to be as low carb as possible, I'm pretty much following IIFYM but counting calories primarily. I.e. I try to fit my macros, but if I am off, as long as the calories are right so far it has worked quite well.

I follow the difference but the impression I'm getting is that it's either slow or not working that well. Good red meat shouldn't stack his calories count too high if no sauces are involved and the LC alternates like the veg and cauli should keep it down.

@Requiem I know how difficult and frustrating it is at our weight level, I weighed more than you do now last year ( a lot more +30kgs ) and have managed to lose it and keep it off. Regardless of method, it takes dedication and willpower from you but also the need to really frankly analyse what you are eating and you'd be surprised how much extra carbs/sugars you eat off "normal healthy foods" : sauces, breads ( low gi/brown etc ), low fat anything.

With this recent weigh in, I'm down 46kgs since 19 March 2015. Aiming to do 50-55kg by the time it's a year.

That's amazing guy. Keep it up.

I've been tracking what I eat religiously since the last leg operation. Frankly I feel better now than I did a month ago.... Hope I can keep it up...

lchf and calorie counting? Eish... Calorie counting isn't really necessary if you do lchf... it's more about eating when you are hungry, and only eating until you aren't hungry anymore.

Damn. Gave in to a steers burger. So hungry at 4pm.
