I think my 2020 weight loss plans are all over. Just struggling with cutting down carbs and I don't know what are good substitutes.

Hey there beautiful person, I notice that you have the same problem that I used to have a few months ago until I found P R O V E N https://bit.ly/33ofBkH and the beauty about this product is that regardless of whether you’re twenty, forty, or eighty and no matter your weight or background this is the only supplement that tackles the root cause of obesity by detoxifying your body of foreign pollution that have been disrupting our hormone balance. Here's the link https://bit.ly/33ofBkH.

This is one of the main problems with the weight loss industry.
New member and on very first post, shilling for a product that claims to help with weight loss...

I replaced my carb snacks with Biltong, droe wors, cheese and nuts (I've now run out of biltong and droe wors with no resupply until next year sadly). Now it's salami, cheese and nuts. Meals are still meat (fish when it's available here which is rare), cooked vegetables and green salads.

So riiiight at the end of 2020 I find this thread haha..
End of Sept I picked up the weights again after working from home for 7 months, eating like a pig.

End of Sept
Weight 135kgs.
185cm
42 years old
Heavily bearded (probably a kilo of the weight haha)

Changed diet... Halved all my portions. Cut out sweets, chips (a lot).
Started eating smaller meals, more often.
Eating a lot more skinless chicken, sweet potato. Hardly any bread, and if I do, whole wheat.

I've lost plenty cm (waistline, butt, a bit of face fat) , and still weigh 135kgs...

My goal end of 2021 is 115kgs.
As I get older and muscles wither, 100kgs would be far better.

I'm a heavy built guy... But a discovery rep at my office in Feb told me my ideal weight is 88kgs... I've never understood how you determine 'ideal' weight. Even when I was 25, doing iron man's, half marathons and having 15% body fat I was 103kgs and this guy is telling me I should be 88... I think I'd look sick if I was 88kg!

I presume that they were basing this on BMI. For your height, 88kg would put you at a BMI of just over 25 (so actually slightly in the overweight range in terms of BMI!)

BMI isn't a very good measure for people with a lot of muscle mass as it only takes into account your height and weight. If you are able to get a measurement for your body fat%, you could calculate a goal weight based on your lean mass plus you target body fat mass which might be more applicable.

Hi there.
I know you didn't ask any questions, but considering your weight and therefore overall health I will say 135kg is too heavy, make losing weight your priority.
And keep up the weight training.
Goodluck

135kgs is definitely unhealthy, with you on that.
Ive got a friend who played lock at high level club rugby and he's 197cm and 120kgs so yeah I'm a fatty hahaha

Basically prioritizing better diet and weight training and being 100% consistent with them.
The weight will drop, I'm assuming it's stayed the same as I've put on newbie muscle growth while losing fat.

Will also try find out bodyfat % to be a bit more scientific about my goals.

Didn't take part officially, but ended up from 91kg to 85kg. Due to the simple lifestyle change e.g. emigrating to the Netherlands. Walking and cycling, with a better diet ended up 6kg difference.

181cm

Morning

I was part of the the 2019 thread.

Between 2018 and 2019 I lost 34KG dropping from 154 KG to 120KG,

A combination of pride (due to my achievement), work strain, lockdown etc saw me gain the full 30KG back.

I’m not feeling sorry for myself. I’m angry and disappointed in myself. All that discipline undone in a short period of time.

Bad eating habits, takeout increased and simply no exercise all contributed to this.

I used to regularly contribute to the thread but was just too ashamed to post anything this year.

I realised the importance of this thread and community in helping me achieve my goals.

Starting today, I’m back to the basics.

Here’s to new beginnings ...

You are not alone. In 2018 I lost 32kg's, going from 109kg's to 77kg's. This year, similar to you it all went sideways and I put back on 20kg's.

Feel the same way about it, restarted 2 weeks ago.

Good luck. like @Meister-Man says above you have a head start. You know how to do it, perhaps more importantly, you know you CAN do it.

It's very common to lose weight and then have a regression, especially when life happens and we've all faced huge disruption this year. Don't be too hard on yourself.

Back to basics is exactly the right approach. Consistency and making healthy choices for diet and exercise are the key to long term, sustainable success.

Don't know my exact weight at the start of the year but I gained a lot over the last three years. Then at the end of October I saw a 40 something year old obese man fall and break his hip. Decided right there to make a change.

Cut carbs and sugar significantly, smaller portions, lots of veggies, no more fast food.

2 November: 131Kg
31 December: 124kg

I'm just glad I got through the festive season without gaining anything. And no more cravings for sweets and bread.
