Nah you need to go out today and get a big box of donuts. You're getting too handsome. Starting to look like some celeb or other LMAO.Now you have me worried....

Yep.Went to the gym today for the first time in forever. Got out the car, and 4 youngish looking guys laughed when they noticed me. This is why I hate going to the gym. I have issues already. These assholes just make it worse
I haven't been to a gym in probably 10 years, I always felt like it was a parade as opposed to a place to get a good sweat on. Invest in equipment that you enjoy using at home (for us it's kettlebells as there are a load of free videos and exercise programs online, and the kettlebells themselves are fairly inexpensive) and skip the idiots and the Corona risk. We also go almost daily for a walk around the neighborhood which is, for me, a nice way of relaxing at the end of the day and getting some light exercise in if you're able to do it.Went to the gym today for the first time in forever. I'm very fortunate to be able to turn on a "f*** 'em" mindset. They are nothing to you, hope you just enjoy your gym.Went to the gym today for the first time in forever. Urgh... First fck up in 3 weeks...
I'm having a small procedure done tomorrow and thus I am not allowed to eat from 22h00 tonight... And will probably only get to eat early evening again. Also not allowed to exercise for at least a week.
So I had moment of weakness and self pity and indulged in a peanut butter and syrup sandwich as well as a handful of the kids' sour worms...
All after a healthy dinner!
Just posting here for accountability and to make myself feel extra guilty.
Back on track tomorrow... Extended fast will hopefully cancel out the moment of madness.
The problem is that its a decision they have to make on their own. People always feel insulted when you approach them even from a good place.Hi guys
I want to encourage family members to lose weight and I need some advice please.
Covid has been around in SA for over 300 days.
Very early on it was clear covid hits older people and people with comorbidities the hardest.
Despite intelligent people knowing this, lots have still not done anything to improve their health.
I'm talking stuff like high cholesterol, high blood pressure and the big one obesity.
I am not someone who has ever been obese (a little fluffy, but not obese) so I can't really relate on that level.
I want to be empathetic towards them, tell them I love and care about them, but most importantly get the main message across.
Our family has been through a lot, so I don't want to be too pushy.
Help from you guys would be appreciated, especially from someone who has been obese and has been on the receiving end of this kind conversation, what worked for you?
My bf wants to be fit enough to hike.
We're getting married next year.
I'd like to try have babies without problems in a few years.
My dad had diabetes, my mom has thyroid issues.
I don't want to die if I get COVID.
I've been fat since I was like 16/17.
We're both very overweight. We need to lose weight. If your family can afford to see a dietician and biokineticist, try get them to take that route. We're seeing the dietician next week again. She weighed me in Dec at 121.3. Yesterday I weighed at 117.1
Very true. My family tried having these conversations with me, I got offended. I told them to stop. The reason I'm doing it now is because I decided I want to, not because of someone else.I want it to be a positive chat and encourage them without making them feel bad.
But as @Fcon_Vpro said, they need to want to lose weight for themselves first.
So three weeks in at around 1200 - 1300 calories a day and I've lost 800grams! I mean common universe be lekker! Lost ZERO this week and I have more than enough that needs to GTFO! So my question to anyone that has started off with calorie counting as the weight loss option, is this frikken normal??
This...Everyone is different so I don't know if anything is frikken normal but i can offer some (hopefully) helpful comments:
Hope that helps.
- 800g is start. Well done
- Weighing yourself weekly is in my view optimal - people who track their progress tend to self regulate. Our weight fluctuates too much day to day to make that very useful but weighing weekly, you can take corrective action sooner rather than later if you don't get the results you want.
- Review the last couple of weeks - were there any days where you might not have adhered in some way to your plan? Consider the calorie target you have set and how accurately you have been measuring your intake and expenditure - if you have been adherent but are not losing as quickly as you would like, maybe you have room to target a slightly more aggressive calorie defecit
- As you lose weight, your BMR will go down and you will have to adjust your target cals - not sure 800g would make that much of a difference but you could recalculate based on your current weight and see.
- Adhere strictly to your diet for at least 30 days in the beginning to build the good habits and give it a chance to begin working
- If you haven't already, add in some light exercise or activity. Eating the same and adding 100 or 200 calories even a day could make a difference. you can burn 100 calories a day by fidgeting while sitting in your chair at work apparently - a half hour walk per day or getting up from you desk and doing a micro workout every hour might be better plan though!
