The 86 has arrived :D

had a look at one yesterday - it is not a bad car \ ride but the design of the 16" wheels fugly. Was determined to buy one but after the test drive and quality of the material on the seats I am in two minds now
 
Yeah, the cloth interior wasn't really awe inspiring but apparently only the High Performance models have leather seats :\.
What changed your mind after the test drive?

This sort of remark makes me laugh.

What do you mean about "the quality of the material" on the seats? It is normal high quality Japanese cloth - if you want leather, you can get it, either as a R 7500 option, or pay the extra for the High model which comes standard with leather.

If the seat covers put you off a particular car, then you aren't that serious about buying.

As for the zero percent, that is a Toyota thing - example

People are used to quality Fazda, this Toy has no quality, no power on the highveld, lousy tyres, lousy brakes for the track, highveld owners will be disappointed lol.
Sad ugly little car, but atleast its cheap. The wannabies will love it.

Only about 94kW per ton on the Highveld if you include an 80 kg driver and 30 kg of fuel.
Nearly any turbo charged petrol hatchback is going to spank the Toyota up here.
The 86 isn't meant to be quick - it's more of an expensive "fun" car. It reminds me a lot of the Hyundai Tiburon.
Please stick a turbo on it Toyota.

I'm sure real drivers won't be buying it for its straight line speed.

So F1 drivers aren't "real drivers" and they don't care about speed in the straights because it's not important?
Cornering at speed isn't all there is to a sporty driving experience.
I expect a sports car to have some oomph behind the looks but this is like a repeat of the MR2.

Okay, since there's such a huge selection of turbo cars within that price range that delivers 94kW/ton or more, care to name a few? I ask, because other than the Giulietta, I can't think of a single one.

So are F1 cars spec'd for drags then? :confused:
 
Well it's true that the highveld can kill the performance of cars without a turbo. If it underpowered, I'll let you know after my test drive tomorrow.

Edit: I haven't actually done a drag race yet, but I'm pretty sure my 1.4L turbo Tiguan will beat my dads 2.5L forester up here in the highveld.

Polo GTI: 95kW/ton R272K
Corsa OPC: 101kW/ton R271K
Mini Cooper S: 100kW/ton R288K
All of the above calculations included 30kg of fuel and an 80kg driver.

And those are just the ones below R300K ...
 
Drive the car, as I have and then come back and chirp about performance.

I am so tired of reading what all the experts have to say ~ 90% have probably never even seen the car in the flesh, never mind drive it....:rolleyes:

...But those are all horrible except for the Polo maybe, which at the end of the day is a R300k Polo for heaven's sake (Because you're going to want that maintenance plan as well as a couple of accessories).
