The above ground pool thread

Are you using an intex pump with an intex pool? I’m considering grabbing one of these but I’d need it to work for a bestway pool (so probably would need to buy fittings).
Using a bestway pool with the Intex pump.
It was a bit of a struggle to find the correct connectors to attach the hose fittings.

I kept the inlet and outlets on the bestway hoses and attached the the pump hoses to them

I think the pool takes 32mm pipes and the pump/filter comes with 38mm( I stand to be corrected on this), will see if if I can get some pics up for you either today or tomorrow of how the fittings look.

Edit: this this exact one I got

But looking at it Takealot, I see the pump listed separately doesn't cost that much

Still a lot of money for hoses though

Found the invoice for those connectors so was able to do an online lookup for you

That pump is rubbish, only 800L per hour. I upgraded mine to a 12 000 L per hour, now I can use a vacumm to clean the bottom of the pool.

Cool man. I wish i had a bigger yard space, but i suppose for my 7 year old daughter, a size between 3 and 5m ones should be decent for her..

Howcome? Not thick enough?
Will be setting mine up on paving soon...
Maybe I was just being paranoid but didn't want to damage the bottom of the pool on the paving. Also helps with Algae build up on the bricks for when you do decide to pack it away

Yup I know, that's why I got the Intex pump afterwards. I guess I should have said in my post that small pump is rubbish lol

Yep - looks like the cheaper pump options are the Kreepy Krauly 0.25kw pump combo:

OR

The Intex pump / sand filter

The reviews for the Kreepy Krauly are shocking though - it sounds like warranty isn't actually a thing... I'll have to decide in the next 2 weeks when I have some time off to set it all up...

I have the kreepy krauly one.. picked up from builders, though it wasn't branded as kreepy krauly, so probably just Chinese that kreepy krauly are branding themselves..

It works really well and the built in timer is a great add-on.. And the power consumption means I can run it everyday for 4 hours a day and not see it on my electricity bill come month end..

my single complaint is that, the inlet and outlet fittings are a tiny bit too small (or the Intex hoses are a tiny bit too big) but I had to wrap them with a few wraps of insulation tape to stop leaks.. also, had to cable tie the outlet pipe the the filter housing, else the pressure eventually blows it off.. considering its far cheaper than the Intex pump, it's a trade off I'm willing to make.. been running for about 4 or 5 months now..

Yep - I think the Kreepy Krauly is going to be the cheap budget friendly way to go (unless the Intex price drops at some point soon)...

I think the Bestway fitting sizes are different to the Intex - so the adapter game is going to be fun... but I'll try and document that here so that others don't have the same issues. Looking at getting the paving done this or next week so I can install when I'm on leave.

Any idea what it cost to fill from the tap or did you have wellpoint access or water delivered?

In Cape Town, filling from tap is cheaper.. around 1k to fill about 15kl.. none of the water delivery quotes I got were cheaper..

Picked this up at Pick n Pay Hyper for R2999.

Using a wheel sweeper to clean the bottom, does the job, only downside is its a manual job.
