Mine was noisy when first installed as well.. found that the noise was due to the leaks in the system.. very small, didn't notice at first.. one leak on each of the inlet and outlet, which I fixed and that upped the pressure a little bit.. because if the increased pressure, I noticed a new leak on the filter control which I sorted and it immediately ran a lot better..

If mine runs for at least three years, I would be okay with that..

This rubber matting from brights would have been my first choice if it weren't for the budget constraints..

No leaks on the system, leaking from the pump motor and the noise was from the pump itself.
 
I've managed to remove the bestway pipe I had connected to the end of the hose outlet of the Intex pump by adding in 1x Bestest 38mm to 32mm adaptor and an INTEX 32mm to 38mm adaptor. Not the easiest way, but it works and no leaks at all. Those two spare adaptors I just plonked together and eliminated the smaller 32mm plastic pipe all together
 
Good move, those 32mm pipes are a waste of time. When I bought my uprated pump, I got adapters along with the pipes.

Where do you guys buy Type 'B' cartridge filters. The place I usually bought from, has closed doors.

Cheapest option I’ve found is old rubber conveyor belting off FB marketplace 1sqm - R40 at 12mm and 16mm thicknesses.

These attach directly to the inlet/outlet of the pool. The Intex adaptors fit into these with some persuasion lol. I needed 2x 3m 38mm pipes to reach the outlet from where the pump was standing though
 
You can get the pipes and everythng you need om Amazon. The Bestway and Intex agents in South Africa are of no help.
 
Everyone putting in upgraded pumps - how do you power them? Just an extension lead from the nearest plug or what? I know "proper" pool pumps normally need some serious electrical work / separate circuits etc, right?

These were R29 for pack of 2 on intex when I bought the saw now the roice shot up to R120. So sportsman warehouse is now the cheapest option for those fittings. I have the 4.57m x 1.22m bestway... Layed on paving with sand bed of about 5 to 8cm. Upgraded to the 1200 Gph intex sand filter. Bought the bestway skimmer but I does not work well at all. Looking at that diy hack with pool net I saw here.

Yeah pretty much the nearest wall socket, it's a standard plug on the pump. Nothing else connected to the socket either as I don't want to overload it
 
I bought and collected this from takealot today. (along with the 38mm Bestway adapters).

I opted for it over the Kreepy Krauly combo (as the reviews were horrible), its got a 2 year warranty vs the KK one year and it should be much less hassle fitting wise. (the bonus for me is i also could pay in eBucks)

Will setup pool next week once paving company have come and gone.

They’re going to cut out a 6m diameter circle for me, fill with rock dust and tamp to level. From there I’ll add some artificial grass and seat the pool.

I hope I don’t need any extra adapters or fittings - but I’ll only know once I’ve unboxed and tried to setup.

Pool is a Bestway Steel Max Pro - 4.57m x 1.07m.

Anyone using a pool cleaner vacuum other than the intex? Any kreepy krauly dominators or some such in use?
 
Measured out a 6m diameter for my 4.57m Bestway Steel Pro Max pool.

The pavers will come tomorrow to cut it out / put down rock dust / tamp it / put down artificial grass.

I went for 6m so there's an extra overlap on either side where I can add smooth river stones as a buffer between the pool and grass / the weed eater :ROFL:

^ Doing half brick paving from house --> up till that brick --> so I can place a pool ladder there / get in and out on to paving.
 
Hi Guys

So i bought this pool at Makro

I need to buy a filter pump for it, but undecided which is suffice for the size and water capacity. Something not too cheap and not too expensive. Anyone can recommend in the price range of R500 to R2000 ramge. Simple and easy to maintain. Also do i need fitting adaptors from the pool side to the filter pump.

My grass looks like shadow_man's backyard. Will there be issues if i just use it as is.
