Actually - if you're getting the one at a good price it's not really pointless.
During loadshedding I only keep 1 of my 4 nodes powered up and strangely or amazingly enough it actually covers quite a large area of my house with speeds only teetering off slightly at the fringes. Compared to my previous Unifi AC AP - just the one airties node certainly covers a larger area and with better consistency.

So depending on the coverage area - one might just work perfectly for certain use cases. Price and availability dependent of course
 
I'm just thinking of my options cause we installing a new fibre setup. But Im currently connecting a PlayStation via lan cable to my wifi router. Would it be better to buy one airtie and place it right next to the PS instead of connecting the PS to the new fibre router with a LAN Cable? Essentially replacing the lan cable with an airtie

Plug the LAN cable in to the Airtie unit - and the other available 1Gb/s port available on the airtie use for the PS.
unit's have 2 ethernet ports.
Also ensures that any wifi connections that airtie serves has a wired backhaul for good speed

You can connect the Fibre router to an Airtie then the PS to the Airtie - each node has 2 gigabit ethernet ports
 
The airties come with 2 LAN ports so you can connect the airtie to the cable then the PlayStation to the airtie which would be best. The other 2 units don't have to be connected to the lan, and can just be placed elsewhere and plugged in.
 
Finally set up my original triple pack.

Still haven't tested second triple pack.

Will collect other triple pack next week and split into singles.

Hard to tell. The 4 nodes cover the entire house which is 200sqm in area size in total. Placement is key. I also placed the 1st node, attached to the router, quite high up and the other 3 are also higher up. It helps.

Cool ... have 6 mounts for the airties, so will try mounting them on wall.
 
I wouldn't mind trying them out for clients home that want total coverage but due to these uncertain times no one has that type of cash to blow. I mean people already complain about blowing 2500 on a connection
 
Happy to sell my spare triple pack if a decent reasonable (i.e. given new cost) offer made.
