Quite possibly also the ‘64%’ households that don't pay for a TV licence... I find it quite interesting that in a SA democracy, the majority rule. If this were true, then we would not have to watch the crap the SABC spew out at us...
 
What I mean is if telkom ever gave us 20mb broadband they would feel no skaam leaving us with a 3gb cap.
 
Are those lame arses making a public statement that they will offer all inclusive basic IPTV solution for R100?

Nope, the proposed IPTV (interactive, on demand) is R320pm as an add-on to an existing ADSL 2+ set-up.

The R100pm option is for Telkom's proposed 15 channel satellite TV bouquet.
 
Um, how are they going to roll out IPTV when they cant even roll out ADSL in an acceptable timeframe?
 
even is this service is coming from the devil itself (telkom) it can only be good us - it will force dstv to rethink their cr@ppy and over-prised service.
 
And they expect the middle-income group to afford this?!

Whats the average salary in SA?? Wasn't it around R5000.00 not so long ago? With that sort of money who can even afford the essentials in life nevermind the disgusting prices of Telkom!!!!

There will be no business packages for IPTV so they better get their whole pricing model for everything DAM STRAIGHT otherwise its just suicide

Telkodemonopolies' idea of 'middle-income group' is a family that gets at least R1000000 per month after tax...
 
Ah Telkom, you always seem to forget that proportion of EX customers who are fed up with you and who wont touch any of your products with somebody else's 10 foot barge pole. Treat your existing customers like garbage and they become your ex customers.

Well now we know why Telkom want to restrict downloads, perhaps they have had this dream for a good while, trouble is they are the type of company that will crush the creative spirit... as Mr Sony once said, he can get thousands of people to come into work a eight O Clock... but for one of those people to come up with the right idea and make it work is another story
 
An Icasa spokesperson says public hearings for the subscription broadcasting licences will be held from May 24 2007, and that the number of licences to be awarded has not been determined yet

That is two and a half weeks - I think Myadsl should have a say at these meetings, and that means that there should be a sticky thread to thrash out what needs to be said
 
Anyone remember AstraSat, the SABC's half-hearted analogue attempt to compete with DSTV?

Why do I get deja vu with this? Telkom must be better than the SABC in a competitive consumer market, right?
