The Anni Dewani Murder Case

this story is very fishy, why would they go to gugulethu at that time of the night? why would the driver even go near there? he should have know better, the area where the high-jacking supposedly took place is also about 5minutes walk from the police station yet it seems as if a search was only launched more than an hour later when the man went to the cops after being "dropped" in harare, life insurance anyone?.....

Yeah I've been watching those hot CSI investigators on TV :D

But these local guys just seem to get it wrong so often !

Mind you, I'm not saying that it's easy but they often seem to make major mistakes, especially by contamination of the crime scene - hope that they did not do that in this case.

The picture in the Daily Mail shows the vehicle being loaded onto a van/truck to be taken away, so hopefully yes.

Poor guy only got married two weeks ago, seems a bit soon for an insurance scam - give him a break !

BTW, you guys are aware that for many people night life only starts after 22:00 ? So going to dinner at 23:00 is not really unusual ?

That doesn't make it any less stupid to go into that area at night, but then these were naive foreigners !

Cut them some slack, sometimes people just don't think - especially coming from a safe environment.

Yes, but I saw a mortuary vehicle in one of the images.

So how did they remove the body, did a couple of big okes clamber all over the vehicle in an attempt to remove the body ? If so, then tickets ! The body should have been removed from the vehicle in a controlled environment.

mzolis is closed that time of the night, not to mention the fact that the hijack spot is in spitting distance from the local cop shop.

Who knows, there have been no statements about that. He should have a story to tell, and at least the husband can corroborate that - unless they are in cahoots which I don't really believe.

Off Topic :

I find this quite interesting, partly because I also Scuba dive, but also because I have dived on the SS Yongala.

It's interesting, they never proved murder, but convicted him of culpable homicide (ie failure to attempt a rescue). Now, it's not that easy to rescue someone underwater, especially if they are having serious difficulties, as she may have had. I suppose the crux is that he didn't try, and as her buddy should have stayed close to her. But the Yongala, although slightly deep, is an easy dive and especially when divers are all over the place people don't always stay together. Will have to think about this one.

According to reports it closes around that time, which means that it might still have been open for a while.

I don't believe that the distance from the cop shop is an issue, after all these guys sometimes raid the cop shops and steal their weapons.

He was alleged to have switched off her air supply and then opened it again (too late) as she was dying. No idea how they know that or if it was just their theory!

I guess that's one of those that no one (but him) will ever know.

In theory she should have been able to drop her weight belt and pop up to the surface (with some decompression danger), but people don't always do what they should.

The story about the flowers is downright weird.

I agree. If you can't let go then such things (and those people) most definitely hold power over you. Forgiveness, however, doesn't factor into it. As I see it, forgiveness is something you grant someone who made a mistake, someone who did something unintentionally, not someone who brutally murders another person in cold blood. That was intentional, it was not an accident, it was not a mistake and it cannot be forgiven.

I still maintain, you can excuse it but in doing so you basically say, "So what"? It happened." and that, in my eyes, is more a mix of apathy and helplessness dressed up as forgiveness than anything else.

I can't make sense of "forgiving" people who do something like that with barbaric intent. As I said, that isn't forgiveness. Not the way I understand the meaning of the word. My mind keeps hammering on the fact that someone does something deliberately wrong and you let them off because of your own misgivings to somehow make yourself feel better. It wasn't an accident, it was brutal murder. There is a price to pay for that and they got off pretty much scot-free. It's sickening.
