The Anni Dewani Murder Case

I'd actually never heard of that. Wow... @ the parents... Your daughter gets hit in the head with a brick, stoned and stabbed to death based on the colour of her skin, her murderers are released five years later and you shake their hands

Forgiveness...I know not everyone could do it,I for one could not.

THE JOHN ROBBIE SHOW 09 September 2008 6:45 AM
Forensic backlog
Yesterday, John got a call about forensic testing. Currently it takes between six and 12 months for forensic results to be made available to the country’s courts. Susan told John a forensic lab has been built at Tukkies. It’s equipped and has analysts appointed to do the testing for government. Susan says it’s stated in the Criminal Procedure Act that the university is allowed to do the tests and the institution is willing to do it without charge for the next three years to clear the backlog. Commissioner Du Toit says they are scheduled to have talks with the university, but he says they are only able to do forensic drug testing. Piet says the police are making good progress on clearing the backlogs in some areas.

Here is an older report, cannot find the newer one, where things had reportedly deteriorated significantly.

But even this is bad, a year to analyse evidence :wtf:

give this case sometime, the millionaire will open a centre in Guguletu for wayward youth ala Amy Biehl style.

The problem ?

Just because you cannot, does not mean that other people are also unable to forgive.

You miss the point. The lab in the article you quoted is a private lab, not a state lab. It seems that it will assist the state lab/s with certain functions.

Just because you cannot, does not mean that other people are also unable to forgive.

it means squat, that is the problem. no matter how many nice things you do for anyone there will always be a person who feels cheated and wants what the next person has it is a dog eat dog world out there.

No, you miss the point - read it again - the state lab cannot cope, is 6-12 months behind. The private lab offered to assist.

Side note; both of the murderers actually work for the Amy Biehl Foundation and apparently, they have a very good relationship with the parents.

Forgiveness...I know not everyone could do it,I for one could not.

Indeed...

Just because you cannot, does not mean that other people are also unable to forgive.

It is not forgiveness. It is an excuse. You can forgive an accident, a mistake... you cannot forgive brutal, cold-blooded murder. You can only excuse it.

Side note; both of the murderers actually work for the Amy Biehl Foundation and apparently, they have a very good relationship with the parents.

And here we put criminals in prison... For shame :)

Latest from Sky News, SAP have strong leads on the perpetrators and an arrest is imminent.

both meaning two, where there not 4 involved where are the other 2?

Alot can change after a problem has been highlighted.

Yes, it has changed, I believe that it is much worse now ...

10 Mar 2010 ... Last week the Cape Times revealed how both the police forensic laboratory ... in the Western Cape had major backlogs and staff shortages. ...

Delays are jeopardising the criminal justice system - Max.(News)
Article from:Cape Times (South Africa) Article date:March 5, 2010

IT COULD take more than five years to do away with a backlog of 20 000 samples waiting to be analysed for drugs at the police's Western Cape forensic science laboratory.

And while Community Safety MEC Lennit Max and a number of attorneys say this is an "absolutely serious concern", the police do not seem too worried. According to national police spokesman Vish Naidoo, as of January 25, 19 758 samples were awaiting testing for drugs at the laboratory. A further 838 samples still needed to be tested for ballistics while 122 samples were awaiting DNA testing.

The Cape Town forensic chemistry laboratory has a five-year backlog of samples awaiting toxicology tests.

Last week, Melvyn Freeman, the national Health Department's cluster manager for non-communicable diseases, said experts would discuss whether these old samples were worth testing.

Yesterday Viljoen said the samples were "worthless" as after five years they would not give the same result.

It's just the two that I know of. An acquaintance who works for the event management company that runs the annual Amy Biehl Foundation fundraiser, got to know the Biehls quite well; it's the mother who told him this.

i do not doubt you word my friend but like i say it's a dog eat dog world out there and who knows what the other guys involved with her murder are doing with their lives.

True yes, but props to the individuals who repented for the crime and who are now carrying on the work of the person whose life they cut short.

http://www.southafrica.info/news/forensics-131010.htm

The South African Police Service's Forensic Science Laboratories have made a significant dent in their backlog, leading to more efficient prosecution and conviction of criminals in the country.

Addressing journalists in Pretoria on Tuesday, Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa said the backlog of cases being handled by the Forensic Science Laboratories had decreased by 19% between 1 April 2009 and 31 March 2010.

That is life. You need to learn to live with it ... a good technique is to focus on those who want to do good, who want to be involved and who want to improve their lives.

No, you miss the point - read it again - the state lab cannot cope, is 6-12 months behind. The private lab offered to assist.

But what is what I said .... the private lab will assist the state lab.

One can forgive. The distinction you need to learn, is between "forgive" and "forget". Never forget the tragedy of what happened or the victim, but forgive the perpetrator.

If you are unable to forgive someone, that person will forever have the power over you. Now that would be sad.
