The Anni Dewani Murder Case

I merely stated what i have seen in my surroundings? How this is a bad thing i have no idea?
I was pointing out that I disagree with your stance that ppl in black communities have this massive strong sense of cohesion you mentioned.
You are making me out to sound racist? And that i do not appreciate.

I asked how do you demonstrate your statement? I demonstrated mine with a recount of what i have discussed with fellow workers.
Of course i agree crime happens across all races, what i disagree with is ur statement that black ppl are more likely to report it as a community than other races.
And especially in the townships, from what I have heard, whilst there may be those who would report criminal activities, its not as common as you are making it out

We work in black communities and this is what I have experienced.

If you read about African culture, you will find that the sense of community is much stronger than in Western communities. It is no secret that people in black communities rely on each other more, cooperate more, etc.

If you feel like you were being made out as racist, then maybe you are oversensitive.

I just asked the guys again, he agrees with you on the strong community ties. But they dont report crime for 2 reasons
1. The community is very tight, if you report it, others know. Repercussions are feared
2. Nothing gets done anyways on reporting, so the crime has directly affected them, its not likely to happen.

He knows of chop shops, stolen goods etc that are being operated. He admits to buying from them, because its cheaper and he cant afford to buy anywhere else.
I would be interested if you asked these community members if they would report crime in their area if it did not directly affect them and if they supported buying from the criminals.
IE clothes etc.

Will do.

Good heavens.

Are you suggesting he knew they would be hijacked? How excactly ? How did he know that they would not kill him too?

Are you suggesting he paid off the hijackers?

Sounds ludicrous to me.
He could have arranged it and told the driver to take that route. Both him & the driver are very much alive. The woman is too dead to explain & wonder why they went that way!
Quite plausible this theory.

How would he have known there would be hijackers on that route? How would he have known that they would spare his life?

The theory, as you set it out, leaves too much to chance. If someone wants to kill another person, they try not to leave it up to chance. More planning is usually involved.

They were 'his' hijackers just waiting for him to drive past. It is not chance the hijacking could have been pre-arranged.

Apparently the Mzoli crowds arrive round 2 on a Saturday afternoon - 11 at night just sounds daft, and whoever was driving should have known that.

I wouldn't even walk around Claremont at 11 on a Saturday night.

It was specifically mentioned in the article that they robbed her husband ..........................................

but left him alive...was there any rape or sexual abuse on the woman?
Why take her away? Why did the man not fight back?
Why were they in a dodgy area like that, that late anyways?

Unless the driver was in on it and recommended it..

It'd be a stupid & suspicious set up if they didn't.

What if it was not a set-up?

Rape or sexual abuse on the woman to be investigated at post mortem.

Why take her away? Any one of a number of reasons.

How do you know the man did not fight back ? Sounds like he was shoved/thrown out of the vehicle, like the driver.

If you read the article, you will find out why they were in that area late at night.

exactly my point. what is there in a township at 11 at night? would you not think that it would be more appropriate to go view the top of table mountain or such like?

There are arguments both sides, but its not inconceivable that it was a setup...

From what I know they have family here and probably knew it was dangerous. One township adventure too far... It is all noble and so forth but any township visit in my opinion is risky business if you obviously don't belong there.

Stupid comments from stupid Brits

Which ones specifically?

I think it's more a case of comments from people who are not desensitised to violence. Our existence is not normal and yet we get offended when people put our country down?

This whole story is very fishy and I would like to find out the truth, its also tragic that a woman was murdered...

+1

I also have serious doubts about the ability of the SA Police to do a proper CSI wrt this case. The Police laboratories don't really fuction any more (interview on 702).
