The Anni Dewani Murder Case

A spokesman for the Western Cape Provincial Management said: “We would like to issue a stern warning to visitors in our province, and locals alike to exercise caution and be vigilant when entering an unfamiliar area and always be prepared for potential danger.”

Too little, too late.

They just upgraded the ''csi'I heard a whole discussion about it on safm a few weeks back. They improved the effiency by some insane number.

Saddest part is that if it was a South African who was killed it probably wouldn't have even made the headlines and most certainly there wouldn't be a man hunt on the go.

Interview on Radio 702 with forensic scientist, a few weeks ago. Can't remember the names.

He said that the Police laboratory was in a state of collapse with few properly qualified staff members.

I heard the complete opposite on Safm, cant find the link atm.

Sure, with staff from where ? It takes years to train laboratory workers (typically M SCs), and very few qualify each year in SA.

Nope, I know people at the universities.
Let's see...
Although organizations seek applicants with bachelors degrees, many employers will hire candidates who have completed specific training programs, obtained certification or possess an associates degree. Training and certification programs generally take only two years to complete and will earn graduates the opportunity for a career in forensic science.

They said on the radio that they are making a 2-3 year diploma to improve the staff/get more employable people.

Well, I guess that you also need technicians - but scientists are required to interpret the results.

And this will obviously take many years just to train the technicians.

give this case sometime, the millionaire will open a centre in Guguletu for wayward youth ala Amy Biehl style.

I'd actually never heard of that. Wow... @ the parents... Your daughter gets hit in the head with a brick, stoned and stabbed to death based on the colour of her skin, her murderers are released five years later and you shake their hands
