Great day for the Poms; completely outplayed their opponents.
 
Would not be surprised if Punter throws in the Baggy Green if they lose this series. Thing is that I do not see a really decent replacement. Punter is still the best for the team at the moment. It's not his fault the team comprises of so many inexperienced players. Surely the pressure affects his batting too.

I think it would be better for him to go back to just batting, the captaincy is affecting his batting badly.

Agree. Long time since the migh ty Aussirs have been so lean on goood/great players... but do you see Ponting staying on as captain if they lose the series.
 
This looks like it is in the bag for england now. Just 4 more wickets to retain the ashes.
 
England won the test with an innings and 157 runs, so.they retain the ashes.
 
Watson has to be made captain. He or Haddin. Short term they might try Hussey. Bring the other Hussey brother into the team as well for good measure.
 
Aussie's are really struggling, there really is no heir to the captaincy. Heir-elect Clark is struggling himself. Will Ponting step down and take up the role as a senior batsmen ? Gosh, poor Aussies.


That said.... i fancy they will do well in the world cup AGAIN....

Great cricket. Not sure who'll take over the captaincy. Not Hussey he's just got his form back. They need all the runs they can squeeze out of him on the pitch. Adding the pressure of captaincy is perhaps not a good idea

Poor Ponting 3 Ashes defeats.

howcome eng already won the ashes 2-1 if there is 1 game left... aus can still square things?
