The Asic thread

Indeed, was a happy Gumtree transaction for a change.

As with all things crypto it's a huge risk. Like with me when I saw the dip in LTC, if it drops too much I would basically be in the same boat, just not Titanic form though

Ag people are dumping so they have cash for the holidays, it'll come right again.

Exactly what I was thinking. I don't need to sell everything I earn, basically just enough to cover electricity costs.

Speaking of which, have you by chance measured your consumption? Mine seem to be sitting on 1000w each instead of the 800w (+10%) story.

I did initially and it was pretty close to the 800w mark, although closer to 900w, but not much higher than that. I think the S9 is going to rape my elec bill though.

Yeah, they should be roughly 1300w?

Once I'm done prepping the new hut I will test again. Maybe I'm just missing something somewhere.

Oh, just be prepared for noise. I could live with one unit, two was pushing it but three, sounds like a server farm almost. Feel sorry for the neighbors

Small sidenote, if you have multiple miners, try makebto run them on their own circuit. Just found out three miners and a dishwasher is a little too much.

Anyone placed orders on Nicehash? Trying to figure it out, was thinking buying hashing power to mine on litecoinpool?

Get acoustic ducting and if you really want, a cooler box. The ducting makes a huge diffs. Input and output side.

I saw many options for different boxes on the old interwebs.

My current plan is to move them outside, currently have a extractor fan hooked up to pull out the heat.

Going to pull through the power tomorrow morning, then the network.

From there it will be trial and error to get temps and noise down.

Using ducting to get the heat out makes an incredible difference. Enormous.

I'm not convinced it's profitable or will be just yet...

When I have a little spare change to waste I'll see how it goes.

I know some people swear by cloud mining. Might be an alternative to boost current earnings

HODL LTC?

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-12-21/why-charlie-lee-sold-his-litecoin

It was requested from Facebook to do it so that he can’t be accused of personal interest, decision bias with regards to the LTC ecosystem development. Facebook is preparing the big announcement that they will introduce support for Litecoin as payment channel.

“Digital currency exchange startup Coinbase has announced the appointment of a Facebook executive to its board of directors. In joining the board, David Marcus, vice president of messaging products at Facebook, will bring years of experience in building large-scale mobile products, according to a Coinbase statement posted yesterday.”

Will keep that in mind, maybe reverse the fan to suck in and the use the miners to blow directly out.

Just gonna have a very holey hut :wtf:

:D It's worth it IMO. I got 90 degree 130mm PVC pipe bends so that it's not an open hole pointing directly up as it enters the ceiling void - don't want a dead gecko or gecko poop finding it's way in there.

Unfortunately now is not the time to be going to any form of a shop, though Builders should have the ducting stuff?

Also, did you just cover the fan or use one of the shrouds that people seem to be selling?

I bought 10 m from an online hydroponics shop. Took a day to arrive.

I bent the ends square and fitted direct to the units. Use duct tape to seal it after cutting. I'll send a pic asap. There's an earlier pic in here somewhere when I had it blowing out the window...
