The Asic thread

Better $/Th than S9 but terrible efficiency. If power is not an issue then it's worth looking at.

Yeah, great for those guys operating in Iceland with low electricity and cooling costs. Not so great for anyone else. They won't ROI in South Africa at current electricity rates and profitability. What they appear to have done is resell excess old tech chips which are less efficient.

I heard about some or other stupid high-end DECRED and SIA ASICs getting released in April, apparently in the TH range.
The name escapes me. Anyone have any info on this?

Nah not the Obelisk. I'll find out again, and let you know.
I have a DCR1 coming, so I felt sick to my stomach when I heard about it.

good to hear local miners still at it. having endless hassles with my D3's but L3 and T9's run without any issues. received some coupons from BM and thought about getting more D3's at that price(with coupon discount) but in 2 minds considering all the crap im having with my current units. lol'd hard at the recent launch of X3 price, less than a week later and massive price decrease. ******* chin#se!!:D

Nevermind the price. Both ETN and XMR have confirmed they will soft-fork to make their coin asic resistant.

powered up A3's today...from 2nd batch Bitmain. decent enough daily returns and certainly better than the T9's,D3's and L3's. at max power capacity with occasional tripping of 63A breaker on eskom box :erm:

Good on the A3s. Pity it's second batch but the price was not the worst. I wouldn't touch D3s for some time until a few new tokens arrive on X11 - they're just way too powerful and too many around to be making money. They chew juice but behave nicely on Blissz firmware. I have a copy of that for D3 and L3+.

I recently cleaned mine and had endless hassles getting them going again. I had to take the hashboards out one at a time and clean them properly with a pantbrush, especially on the air intake side. The humidity creates corrosion on the board and causes conductive dust to sit on the components - not good for sensitive electronics. They went from totally misbehaving to working 100% again.
