That is just the thing...I was expecting the same level of service delivery that formites, here and elsewhere, rave about. Just being a sign post for others...not cool, nor fun being part of the other 5%.
Yeah, bit of a craps shoot hey. Maybe it's like the 'Soup Nazi', maybe you did something to peeve them off and as such, "No soup for you!" :p

Not at all, I am very chilled and give tons of latitude. Have put down this experience as educational.

German Auto Specialist (Montague Gardens) - Business in Chaos! They took in our Golf 5 2.0 Tdi six weeks ago on the 18th April 2017. I have been phoning several times a week as a courtesy follow up and every time Addi answers the phone, I ask is there any follow up and when will the car be ready? I get the same answer "I don't know". I asked to speak to Sean every time "who I assumed was the owner of the company and mechanic" until this morning 29 May 2017 was told Addi is in fact owner of the company. Every single time I phoned I was given no answer and no time line to how long I would wait to get a reply from the mechanic. Every time I phoned and asked to speak to Sean I was told he is busy, I will give him your message. I asked for Sean to phone me and never received one phone call.

I phoned last week Thursday and was told if I want to I can collect my car. I was shocked to be told this after having already waited nearly SIX WEEKS!

I phoned this morning at 7:45 A.M on the advice of another customer who is also getting nowhere with them but said I should try at that time as Sean answered the call for them. I phoned only to be answered by "Addi", I asked to speak to Sean and she abruptly told me he is busy! I said to 'Addi' what do I do, you tell me. You have had my car for SIX weeks and I cannot get to speak to the mechanic? Her answer was I give him a message; I dropped the call saying I am on my way in to see you now!

Upon arriving I was too I should not have the dropped the call to Addi because she is the OWNER of the business, to which I replied maybe so but I am your customer! Sean instructed his staff to pull the car out and I was told to leave. To my shock they moved the car from where it was parked weeks ago only this time with a cracked windscreen!

I have never had such shocking service EVER as with this German Auto Montague Gardens. I also personally witnessed two customers uplifting their cars from there one on a flat bed that must have come at a cost to the customer.

This was my experience, personally I will never send my car there again and neither will I recommend any one to do the same. They have most certainly lost control of their business and instead of facing the customer head on it seems there M.O. is to insist you remove your car months down the road.

@yebocan, so they just posted a message on their FB group 1 hour ago to say that they are overloaded and working 18 hour days for 2 months and are not going to take any new bookings until current workload is complete and then thereafter they will take a 1 month break.

So I suppose this explains how some customers experiences could leave something to be desired.

edit: Certainly not excusable though if the writer of that Google Review was giving a fair representation of all that transpired, from both ends I mean.

Car under motor plan.. so dealer it is...

Aaah right. In that case no problem at all.

I used to go to Culemborg without issue, but that was many years ago.

Few times I've popped in at N1 City just to look it never seemed to be of the same standard.

The newer Waterfront branch does seem quite nice though.

Can assure you, the review is about the same experience I had to endure. Just glad, I tapped out of that madness.

Changing 2010 A3 fog light issue

So I'm trying to DIY unscrewing and screwing back in my fog light but not having much luck getting to it. The manual says to lift the trim/cover outwards and upwards but it's not budging and I suppose I'm also not too sure how much force to use.

Anyone got any further tips around this? Else next step is to find a place that isn't going to charge an arm and a leg on what should be a relatively simple job.

The text says to take hold of the trim by the handle, then pull outward and upward. I think the handle bit will be important; that's likely to be where the main clip is that holds the trim piece in place. Maybe first try applying pressure outward, then upward (while maintaining outward pressure) - if that doesn't work, try the reverse.

The best way is probably to do one side at a time, you can see in the pics in your manual there are cutouts in the bumper where the clips probably sit. So you want to push the part towards the opposite clip and then pull outward on that side you are trying to unclip.

I'd be very careful. A new part will probably be stupid money. A competent panel beater will be able to get that off in a jiffy and shouldn't charge to much.

I'd try find a YouTube video that shows how to do it always easier when you can see the technique.
