Thanks, doesn't seem to be very well supported - "Most users ever online was 13 "
Is that the only one for SA?

They just switched over to a new forum. Not everybody has signed up again yet I think

Better features or something. Same domain, just different forum software

They are currently in the process of moving all the content to the new forum platform - or something like that. From 1 Aug onwards the "old" website will no longer be used.

Very helpful/knowledgeable people on there - definitely worth signing up.

HERE’S WHY AUDI SPORT IS KILLING OFF ITS MANUAL ‘BOX

The head of Audi Sport says the brand would have been wasting its time and money developing a manual transmission option for hot variants such as the new Audi RS3 and TT RS, because buyers wouldn’t be interested in it.

Audi Sport boss Stephan Reil told Motor1.com that the outgoing TT RS was first introduced in Europe in manual form, before a dual-clutch option was added some two years later. Just one-tenth of buyers, however, went for the stick-shift.

“And, of course, that’s not a business case to develop a manual and everything that goes with it,” Reil told the publication.

He added that the Ingolstadt automaker’s S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission offered the “best of two worlds”.

“For me, the double-clutch is the best of two worlds. It’s just like a manual, but without a clutch pedal,” he said, adding that good dual-clutch gearboxes tended to allow both faster acceleration and better fuel economy.

Audi product planner Anthony Garbis added that potential buyers often told the automaker that they wanted manual gearboxes, “but then they buy S tronic anyway”…

Good. I'm so over manual. Then again their DSG is nothing but a manual masquerading as an auto.

Which is the case of any dual clutch setup really.

It’s two manual gearboxes with duel electronic clutches.

The perfect solution.

Quite the opposite. It is the worst solution there is.

How do you reckon?

It’s faster and more economical that conventional auto.

Which is why everyone always preferred manual.

Now you have the best of both worlds.

This all but confirms an Audi RS Q8 is in the works…

A fresh report out of Europe suggests that Audi has applied to register the “RS Q8” badge on the continent, all but confirming rumours that a hot version of the upcoming flagship SUV is in the works.

The Ingolstadt automaker has already confirmed the new Q8 for production in Bratislava, Slovakia, from 2018 as well as hinted at a future RS-badged derivative with the Q8 Sport Concept.

And now, according to VW Vortex, the German brand has registered an application with the European Union Intellectual Property Office to trademark the RS Q8 name.

The publication speculates that the production version of the RS Q8 will be priced to compete with the BMW X6 M, and likely employ the 4,0-litre twin-turbo V8 that Lamborghini has already confirmed will power its upcoming Urus.

Of course, a smaller Q4 is also expected to join Audi’s burgeoning SUV line-up in the next couple of years, with the first example scheduled to roll off the assembly line in Hungary in 2019.

Which model of the Audi A4 range has a proper automatic or a less problematic automatic gear box?

Long time ago I drove an A4 with a CVT, not sure if any Audi fanbois here know which one that was but it was in later half of 2010. That is a good bet. Otherwise just get a proper car like a BMW or Merc with a 7 speed autobox.
