I think he's looking for more car, be it the feeling of it or what is perceived of it.

So basically a new Polo vs a second hand very low mileage A3.

Yep that is what it comes down to. Tell him to check the new Polo and seriously consider it, otherwise demo A3 would be a good bet. Either way he'd be happy I'm sure

Generally I agree with you. I've already decided on my next car (if things go well), and it won't be bought new.

I guess buying new could be good in certain circumstances, like if you have certain options which are must haves for you but aren't very popular in general

Yeah. But in a Golf/A3, which are common, I just don't see the point.

He's also trading his 'new' Polo :p in, going to try talking to him about selling privately.

Friend wants to buy a new Golf 7 out the box. Told him he's mad. Hoping he'll consider a second hand/demo Audi A3 with <10,000km.

They're actually not *too* bad.

My stepbrother bought a Golf7R and chipped it to 240kw / 440nm - so similar power to an S4 in a lighter body with fantastic gearbox and more advanced Haldex. The car is around 4.7 seconds to 100km/h and it's pretty decent quality. I'd take an S3 over it - but surpassed what I thought of it

Agreed, they are more premium these days. Huge improvement when looking back at the Golf 5.

Mister PP, remember, the A3 is built on the same basic platform as the Golf, sharing many items. Same gearboxes, same engines, etc.

Yes, but there's more than likely a reason you took the A3. ;)

:D ah but of course! Twas nicer, and speccing a golf up to the same level would have cost the same either way. Plus it was one of the last models before a price increase, so was one of few chances available

I see a work colleague; who I don't know; has this striking out the box new & oh so nice MY14 S3...bright sun & parking mean I can't get better pics.

I followed behind him this morning; he was hammering it before 6 this morning.

Okay guys...just came back from a shotgun ride & it was freaking awesome!
Until less than few hrs ago I never knew this work dude: but I sourced his name & Lync him & we chatted & we both knock off around same time I said can I view the car & he says no probs.

Then he says "you want a ride"...& im like damn right!

Car RRP is R495k & he paid R530k odd cash. Took better rims & pano roof options.

He plans to decat it. No new software out as the car is so new.

He want around Century City traffic circles at proper speeds in Sports mode & ESP just keeps the car in check.

Build quality; styling; seats; even noise from the 2L T motor.

I'm sold! Now I need to just source R500k ImageUploadedByMyBroadband Tapatalk1405430199.908846.jpg ImageUploadedByMyBroadband Tapatalk1405430254.234507.jpg ImageUploadedByMyBroadband Tapatalk1405430268.676476.jpg

That S3 is amazing. Went and looked at one at Audi Rivonia yesterday! The interior on this thing is the bestest best ever! A nice option for next year when I am due for an upgrade. I would love to have the new RS3 though, when it comes out :)

New ride?

Nope, took my friend to Audi today to look at A3s. Very nice. Test drove the 2.0 TDI myself. Decent amount of torque!

A3 Sedan is a serious looker. But he's more keen on the A3 Sportback.

So as it stands:

R330k Golf 7 1.4 TSI Comfortline Bluemotion + bells & whistles incl. leather

R399k Audi A3 Sportback 1.8 TFSI + bells & whistles excl. leather.

Are those new or demo/low mileage prices?
