Very nice!! Wow!! Brand spanking new?!! Sweeeeet!!! Sure he's paying a packet for the privilege?

Can't get over what new cars cost these days. Frightening!! I doubt I'll ever be in a position to buy a new Audi again. Mind you none of my 6 Audis were new.

Only car I ever bought new was my 2nd, a Citi Golf purchased over 20 years ago for the princely sum of R28000... Give or take....

R415k.

I'm sorry but that's insane, especially considering it's provably worth about R350k since he drove it off the showroom floor!!

I get how exhilarating and intoxicating driving a new car can be but for that money you can get some much more on the 2nd hand market.

I could not agree more. He earns well though and YOLO. :D

Was going to be a Golf 7 1.4 (±R330k) TSI until he told me he'd put in an OTP on one. Told him "we're going to Audi tomorrow." ;)

Good job on getting him into an Audi!!

Did a quick search on autotrader, fck me, there is very little justification in buying new!! Good God!!

Very nice cab - but fck it... Too much.

R314k got me an A5 that feels and smells new and has all the same specs (inc B&O). According to Debeers spec sheet he sent me, B&O alone is an R84k add - on.

Pre-owned FTW!

Still a fkn nice ride though PP.

+1!

Us plebs. :D Which is ironic when you compare the A3 and A5/6. Hell, even the A4!

Yep. And people wonder why many fear that new car sales are going to drop very very soon (if they aren't already). I have bought one car new, a POS Renault, and won't buy new in this country again. Heck, I've already decided on my next car and part of the reasoning is the fast depreciation effect allowing me to get a great car for Polo money.

Having been to 2x Audis and 1x Barons/VW over 3 days, it's scary the amount of new cars that still get sold.

Keeping our beloved car manufacturers going strong - hell, we can't complain. :p

I've never purchased a new car dude. Ever. You get so much more for so much less going for a good pre-owned. Just got to keep the eyes open and have patience - good deals exist.

Well...

B&O sound
'Leather'
MMI
Upgraded rims
Something about boot capacity
Couple other minor things like smash and grab film/tint, nano tracker, etc.

Not bad. But yeah, way too much money from my side as well. I do wish him many happy miles though.
Boot capacity thing is likely the cargo fastening net, side pockets, as well as a few nets inside the car like behind the front seats and in the front passenger footwell.

Stunning vehicle. Epic power band on the 1.8 TFSI.

Very nice cab - but fck it... Too much.

84k on A6, on your model A5 the B&O was about 10 - 15 grand at the time of purchase. Do completely agree with you about pre-owned and all that!

Why such a difference between models. Would have thought B&O is B&O?

Agreed. Will have to disappoint the thread when I upgrade in a few years though, as I won't be staying with Audi unfortunately!

Overall, yes the speakers are similar. However, the A5 is based on the A4 and shares largely the same speaker configuration by default, and this extends to the B&O system. The A6 is in a completely different league from the A4 (as I'm sure you can attest for) and has a larger amount of speakers, more expensive components, higher wattage, and more advanced tech going into it (such as the omnidirectional speakers which raise out of the dash). This is also why the A6 and A7 have similar pricing on B&O, as the platform is very similar. The A8 is another step up from the A6/7, and B&O on the A8 costs well over 100 grand, about 130 if I'm not mistaken... will make sure quickly.

EDIT: Also 85 grand on the A8, but I see that on the new model it comes standard with BOSE sound which would lower the cost on upgrade to B&O. I do remember it being over 100 on the previous generation however.

Man, the B&O on this A3 is insane. And I'm an audiophile of sorts. Granted, I've not heard upgraded sound in anything higher... :p

Yep, Audi and B&O have a great thing going. Heck, I only have the basic speakers in mine and am very satisfied (would have definitely gotten the upgrade if I was buying new though).

To put it lightly, the difference between the A3 B&O and a higher up system (A6 and up) is like the difference between plain TV speakers and a proper soundbar or home theater setup.

Yeah, I bought my A6 without even test driving it. Would say it was one of the dumbest moves of my life.

Not that I don't love it but there a number of issues which grate me like the rattles. I've never owned an Audi that rattles like this and I find that very surprising for a top end Audi. Standard spec levels are a little disappointing too and this vehicle has fck all extras other than sun roof and after market hands free which the previous owner says caused the major rattle in the driver door.

Also finding the box not nearly as seamless as my multitronic. In fact if anything I'm finding the timing a little off and I sincerely hope it's a timing issue and not a failing tiptronic box. Plan on taking it to torque tuning for the once over and perhaps some remapping and DPF removal/deletion. Then to Ulrich over at vag for AMI and sat nav. All in all could be dropping another R20k on her, total R190k...

The interior isn't as clean as I had initially thought and it's not a one owner car as suggested by the salesman that sold me the car. In addition to that I've had it for 6 weeks and the dealer is yet to register it in my name!!!

So buying 2nd hand has its pit falls but for R170k one must put up with these nuances.

On the plus side I'm in Umhlanga at the moment, drove down Sunday the 6th of July and I swear I had a boner for the duration of the trip. 6.7l/100km 3 up with luggage to last 2 weeks and cruising at a very comfortable 140kmh.

Ouchie dude :(

My previous A6 I never even started it. Turned out to be the best purchase ever.
My A5 I only started it. Never drove.
Had regrets for a few weeks (as you all know) but have come to really love this vehicle. It is solid, stylish, sporty, sexy, etc... Just had to give it time to forget the A6 and appreciate the A5.
What does annoy me is the amount of plastic compared to the A6's I owned. Just a niggle though. Makes me feel like I own an upgraded A4 instead of downgraded A6 (if you catch my drift).

My next baby is def an A7. Max 3 years to go

Damn. R170k is A6 2.0 T facelift territory - sub 100,000km. Good luck though, sure it'll come right.
