In any event, 0-100 means nothing in the real world. Some cars hit 100 in 2nd, giving them a good 0-100 time, but they might have a weak 3rd gear. While others hit it in 3rd, which throws the time off by a few tenths, but they have a good 3rd gear. The best test for acceleration is always a 1/4 mile...

The only reason I brought it up and I still think it is relevant, was the following:

I'm interested in finding out how the DSG handles the 1.4 engine, as smaller engines used to be a bit of an iffy combo with auto boxes...

He's got the manual 1.4 TSI and this just shows that the DSG will have similar performance, with better consumption and a more relaxing drive (until you want to play).

I would be careful... Seems about R40k too low. Maybe just an urgent sale?

Lowest urgent ones I've seen are around R130k. I'm guessing Code 3 too, or something else that's fishy. Obviously be cautious, check VIN number with Barloworld, etc.

I went to them a few times when I still had SMART dent/scratch insurance. They were always pretty reasonable. I can't remember if I had a similar thing that what you have fixed up with them or not. I'd expect them to quote a few hundred on your repair job, maybe R500 at a guess. They are negotiable I think, you can try bring the price down perhaps if the quote is high?

edit: OK, I guess it depends. A door scratch repair on my A3 2 years ago they quoted R1,425 incl VAT. (that is respraying the entire door IIRC). A mag wheel repair & respray was R570 incl VAT.

Decent. Thanks for putting pricing into perspective. I'm willing to pay R2k. Submitted a quote request. Will take the quote to another branch and see if they can come down.

Hard to tell how bad the scratch is from your pic, but if you can get away without a respray of the panel then i can't imagine it's gonna cost more than a few hundred bucks.... One can only hope :)

Audi Claremont are so painful, mailed them last week Wednesday and was told I'd be contacted to arrange the service booking, haven't heard anything since. Mailed again this morning and still nothing.

Gave up and mailed Audi Centre Cape Town and vehicles booked in 5mins later..
