The Audi Thread

Ok, good points on the car washing...
Lazy me = 1
Pedantic me = 0 :(

Hannibals there by Kenilworth Centre used to do a good job, yeah? Or still not up to scratch? Pardon the pun!

Lol, that's what it comes down to. But consider after hundreds of washes how it'll have made a difference.

Not sure. Wouldn't trust anyone to treat my car like they own it.

Driving an Audi, I though you guys would know you never EVER let the dealerships wash your car, no matter what brand you drive.
I used to agree to this. Audi Airport recently sacked all their washers and got new ones. The state they return my car to me is mind blowing now. I have never had my car look so good as when they return it to me.

Oh - I never wash it myself anymore. One of the OCD's I have (had) that I got over.
When I wash myself, it can easily take 3 to 4 hours. I got annoyed at myself and forced the use of car washes.

So you done yet?

Nice :)

On the showroom floor yesterday I looked at some of the new car prices, F me, ridiculous! Pre-owned for me when I upgrade one day!

its* :p

The problem is that those employed to wash cars do not know how to take proper care of them. In fact most people don't.

They probably use one bucket on multiple cars. Think about all the dirt going back into that water, and then being scrubbed into your paintwork leaving fine scratches.

Two bucket method only here. After pressure wash.

Dealerships wash your car regardless? Never heard of anyone specifically commanding a dealership to not wash the car..

I personally could not be bothered to wash my own car - take it into Star Wash at work. But never, ever, use those automated washing facilities at garages - those are guaranteed to give your car back with scratches...

That makes me the first.

lol. Ag, I know there are some folks who get pleasure out of "detailing" their car (I think that is what it is called). Don't get me wrong - I paid a few g's extra on my car for the "auto-armour" or paint protection or whatever it is called. So I do want to protect the paint. And I do expect the professional car wash to wash the car properly. And at the end of the day, you washing the car yourself for years will hardly add any value to the car when it comes to reselling, seeing as dealerships know exactly how to buff a vehicle to sell it.

You'll never know. I tend to see them washing side by side instead of top down.

It's not about value, but it'll definitely add value if you're selling to someone you know.

After 9 months I've managed to take my S4 on the open road - and quite chuffed at the figures.

I got an 8.6l/100km going to Clarens and a 9.0l/100km, with the odd spirited driving burst. Not too shabby for a 245kw 3.0 supercharger car actually.
