So I just registered on the audi club, but the mods there haven't approved my membership yet. Anyone here that can shed some light?

hi guys
bought a 2011 audi a3 cabriolet 1.8 in july which is now due for service. it's not on the serviceplan anymore.. how much will it cost me to take it in for service?
i'm based in midrand..Where about are you? I got a decent mechanic out in Roodepoort, very competitively priced too... Sarel Snyman at Torque Tuning...

So this bloody car (presumably all of them VAGs) doesn't use a conventional oil filter but instead has a cartridge filter with a housing.
Fine...except the housing is leaking and changing the gasket on that didn't do jack ****.
What does a housing cost? R1200...**** my life.
It can drip until it becomes a real problem...newspaper is cheap.
Cracked filter housing?
Hi Franky.Hi All,
I have been following this thread for some time. I am looking at getting a second hand audi A4 B8 model in the next few months. I have seen some reasonable deals with cars ranging from 90 000km to 140 000km. Ideally I would like to get a 2010 model with 110 000 to 130 000km. My daily commute is approx 50km round trip with moderate to heavy traffic. My price range is R120 000 to R140 000.
1. Anything specific to look out for in terms of service history?
2. I have read numerous posts (both here and elsewhere) regarding issues with the auto gearboxes.....would it be better to rather then look for a manual?
3. Another question I have is regarding service/maintenance cost - obviously it would be cheaper to not use the dealerships. But in general, what is the service cost?
4. The car will also probably be out of service/motor plan - worth it to extend this via a dealership?
Any suggestions/help will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks
Hi Franky.
Wrt service records, you can request a full record from an Audi dealer. You can see if it was just general servicing or if there were major repairs.
As far as I am aware, the gearbox issues was mainly on the B7 A4s.
I drive the 3.0TDI B8 and my services range from R2k to R5k. Services done was 105k, 120k and 135k. Just get a good indie in your area. Not sure where you are based, but guys on the forum can provide suggestions.
I will not extend the maintenance plan as it is very expensive. Just get a good warranty for those breakdowns.
That does not sound too hectic for a service.

Prices looks reasonable for models and age based on quick search on Autotrader. I bought mine 3 years ago for R200k. It is a 2008 model.Okay so I came across the following at a dealership and it is exactly what I am looking for right down to the colour!
2009 A4 2.0 Tfsi with 114 000km for R122k - it is almost like it is too good to be true? Is this normal in terms of price/mileage?
There is another 2009 A4 1.8T available for R100k at the same dealership BUT it has 190 000km on the clock - is this too high for a 2nd hand Audi?
