That's torture, sorry man

That being said it should come out fine but not without a fair amount of pointless labouring.
The leather is thankfully holding up well to the solution I've applied and some light scrubbing. The carpet - it remains to be seen whether I'll get all the residue out, but so far so good as the OEM carpet is super plush and seems pretty durable. Unfortunately, this stuff got in everywhere, so I'll need to go over the whole car with a brush and some rags to try and get every last bit out.
When the weather is a bit better here I'll wheel the car outside, remove the seats and do a thorough job as the garage is a bit too narrow to work inside and I doubt I will be able to get the seats out without a big struggle.
WRT the oil pressure issue, I got some feedback on that...
A 1.8T oil pump was installed and the seized 2.0T oil pump removed, and the sprockets and guides amended appropriately as this seems to be a common mod done overseas. The only issue being that some people report very high oil pressures at startup, so a common fix is to fit the older 1.8T oil filter housing with a
06A to 06F adapter. This seems to be because on the 1.8T motor, the pressure relief valve (or pressure bypass valve, can't recall which one) sits on the oil filter housing whereas with the 2.0T they moved it to the oil pump. So when you install the pump off the 1.8T, you no longer have said valve which is why the adapter plate is needed to restore correct oil pressure.
The issue is that there doesn't seem to be any stock in SA, so I might have to import that adapter (~R5500 incl shipping) and source a 1.8T oil filter housing and oil cooler assembly (~R3k) to go with it.
Either way, progress is being made, ever so slightly. My heart hurts a bit to have received the car back in this condition, but the colloquial damage has been done and the only way to deal with it is to deal with it and do what I can to make it right again. I feel like I owe it to this car to turn it into a glorious vehicle again, considering all that it's been through thus far
but a small part of me also wants to set fire to it and watch it burn
