In history? No ways, the Bafana of the late 90's and early 2000's had no issues qualifying for anything.

In 98 WC qualification, Bafana won a first round knockout tie, and then won 4, drew 1 and lost 1 match in the group stage.
In 02 qualifiers, Bafana again won a two legged tie, and then won 5 and drew 1 match.

Wow, having just looked that up, it's really amazing. Bafana went unbeaten in 2002 WCQ and then won 1 drew 1 and lost 1 at the finals, only not advancing due to goals scored.

Bafana vs ethiopia is on SABC 1 today. Kick off is at 3pm, and coverage starts at 2.30pm.

GI gambled a lot on these matches. He is still in talks with SAFA about a new contract. They wanted to keep him until 2018. Had he won today, he could have asked for more moeny. Now, if SAFA is to belived, they have the right to terminate his contract.
