The coach will only really make a difference against evenly matched and teams below us. Even if you put Guardiola to coach Bafana, he probably won't qualify the team for the World Cup. There are deep structural problems and the SAFA executive committee has remained intact despite moving from failure to failure.
Until they are ousted, there won't be much of a difference but they seem to be dictatorial characters who probably will keep their positions until bad health strikes.
I think what might also help is if clubs look to top Algerian, Nigerian, Cameroonian, and Ivorian coaches when they can't find a good South African coach. They usually just get an unknown European coach and most of the time, they are bad, Ernst Middendorp was one of the better ones.
At least, getting top coaches from other African countries can help them learn about strategies to play against other African countries as well because quite frankly, there is a bit of a gulf in class between us and the top nations in Africa.
SuperSport hired a Zimbabwean (Kaitano Tembo) and I actually rate Tembo as one of the best coaches in the PSL now.
