The Banting/LCHF Thread

I'd be interested to hear more about what the doctor tested for and what the recommendations were, because there is no scientific evidence or indication that blood type has any influence on what you should or shouldn't eat.

The generally quoted "blood type diet" as per D'adamo has been shown to be a load of hogwash

You probably find that it's more of a placebo type effect than anything else.

If anyone is interested I was in Clicks Sunday and the had a 3 for 2 special on Low Carb products - I got a LC granola, mixed nuts and goji berries, you get the cheapest item free, they all around R70 so nice saving.

Got some banting pizza base. Was quite yum.

Attempt to roll a round base.

Motzarella cheese and gouda cheese, green peppers and some left over breakfast bacon.

Base after baking in the oven for 7-8 minutes. Was still soft and moist.

The end product after adding all the ingredients and back in the oven to melt the cheese.

Much congrats Kosmik, that's bloody good going!

yeah, well done!! you were quite large to start off with....so well done on the change, couldn't have been easy!!

37kg so far is awesome, that would be my overall target....I have around half way to go still

You are probably more mobile at around 150kg, have you incorporated any walking/excersize? I walk daily, I just enjoy it, actually now walk/run, I have reached a weight where I no longer get pain from shin splints from running.

Imagine walking now carrying about 5 x 8kg bags of dog biscuits - thats how much you have shed, great stuff, you should be proud...

TBH, not much has changed activity wise yet but we've also been hectically busy moving house the last few months. Trying to get more active on weekends ( go to promenade on beachfront and walk a bit with the family ) but rain and house stuff killing us at the moment. Although house/garden activity is good too.

so jealous of both the beachfront and the rain, I would walk for hours...all I have are ****ty streets with townhouses etc to walk past...and rain, wtf is that?

Put on a kilo last week due to Diwali festivities..so current at 88kg... hopefully this week I will be a bit more disciplined.

Question: Is Coke Zero allowed? I have been drinking quite a bit of it over the last few scorcher weeks.. how much is too much?

Don't drink fizzy drinks... hell, I stopped drinking juice even.

Stay away from anything with artificial sweeteners, can still induce an insulin spike

Thanks.. figured as much.. coz I have been feeling a bit 'meh' over the last few days. I have been cheating by having a small swig of Ultramel custard everytime I feel like I need a bit of sugar. (maybe twice or thrice a day)

For sugar cravings try full fat cream cheese with a teeny tiny half teaspoon of jam. Cream cheese on the spoon with a minute dip in the jam. Yum yum.

Terrible for banting but delightful for tastebuds.
