Picked up a very nice brownie mix at clicks. Smart rite low carb brownies,5g carbs per 100g, 1g carb per 12g serving. Pack makes 12 squares ( we got 9) which gives a carb count of 1 per piece.

Makes a nice post dinner dessert.

Made a small meatloaf last night with a tomato relish sauce. I added lots of bacon to the meatloaf and olive oil to the sauce to up the fat. But not sure how high in fat it really is in the end, as a lot of the fat in the meat drains out in the baking process (I think). Any feedback?

Question for you low carbers, and intermittent fasters....

From a video I watched that Park posted in the weightloss thread, he said drinking a bulletproof coffee is okay in the morning...

BUT, being on a lowcarb diet already, our source of energy doesn't come from our blood sugar/glycogen stores....

so is the bulletproof coffee still ok in the morning?

Add cheese, and wrap the meaty bit with bacon before you cook, like this:

There's no sugar in bulletproof coffee. Not quite sure what your concern is - you're basically drinking a cup of tasty melted fats which is kinda what you want aint it?

yes i know that... but aren't a low-carbers body already geared for not using sugar as its source of energy, but rather fats? So my concern is when I'm feeding it fat, it's not using the stored fats like its supposed to... or is my science broken here?

Bit of both, you're body should process the incoming fat as a normal food source but won't store it as additional. It will also stop cravings and hunger so in effect should net off by forcing your body to burn fat stores because you haven't actually consumed any additional.

yeh, so in my mind it will feed off my bulletproof coffee fats first... and then dig into the stored ones... which is kinda defeating the object, isn't it.

I'll maybe do bulletproof coffee the first week or two, just to get used to no breakfast, and then remove it from there

Dude. Bulletproof coffee was my go to breakfast when I first started banting. It's satisfying and I don't get hungry till late afternoon. Sometimes I can go without lunch.

Then if you aren't feeling hungry I wouldn't go with the BPC. Test it out.

Just broke the fast... got a little hungry before... but its day 1.... like i said, i'll do for the first 2 weeks or less, and then wean myself of it... play it by ear.

Found some interesting data when it comes to carbohydrates, potatoes and sweet potatoes.

From the United States Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service (so :

Sweet potatoes contain 20.12g of carbohydrates per 100g
Source

Normal raw potatoes contain 12.44g of carbohydrates per 100g.
Source

When you bake them:
Potatoes:
21.15
Sweet potatoes:
20.71

That doesn't seem to be a major difference IMO.

From the Noakes himself
They have more fibre and less carbohydrates than regular potatoes.
Source

Cutting them both out would make more sense, but picking one over the other seems petty.

How much fibre do each of them have? I think to calculate the nett carbs you need to take the carbs and subtract the fibre, otherwise things like avocados are quite high.

Avos Carbs = 9g / 100g
