I am sure this has been discussed many times but who here drinks bullet proof coffee? I made my first one this morning (cheap PnP butter, cream and coconut oil), but I am now on the hunt for grass fed butter and perhaps McT oil. What are your thoughts on the concentrated oils vs using natural coconut oil? Does anyone have any local links for buying banting products online?

Thanks!

Look at Lifematrix or Battlebrew. Why do you want to drink BPC?

Don't fall for the trap of the real thing....

Just buy Kerrigold butter (if you have to, otherwise Clover Mooirivier is fine), and make sure it is salted. Salted FTW!
Coconut oil.
Blender.

Profit!!!

The "real" stuff is just coconut oil with the useless bits removed, you will not get anything else when you buy it, except poor.

I am banting and have a coffee every morning so thought it made sense. Why do you ask? :)

Sorry, forgot to quote. That was in response to Randhir.

If you aren't feeling hungry in the morning, there's no reason to force extra fats into your diet.

I have to agree with Randhir. The point of BPC is to kill hunger cravings, otherwise you are just upping your calorie intake.

Just some general feed back for anyone interested in my story..

My Dad died at 52 he was a super athlete but his Triglycerides where always high his LDL and HDL where normal.

I (37yr) was put on Statins to reduce my high Triglycerides (320 or 3,2) I suffered joint pains..etc and decided to stop the meds in December and try LCHF in Jan...
I had my bloods checked yesterday (6 months later) my bloods are even better than when on the meds.. My triglycerides are down to 120 which is perfect according to Dr and others (HDL, LDL) are all normal...

I have found that I eat a lot less, than when I originally started LCHF. (Breakfast---6 egg omelets, pack of bacon, cream... Lunch--- 1kg Double cream yogurt... Dinner--- Rich butter/cream filled sauce on a veg of some kind... Late night snack--- 1/3 90% dark chocolate)
I now generally eat once a day or sometimes have Double cream yogurt at lunch. I don't touch Carbs at all (not even a chip at a braai or a grain of rice).

What I don't restrict at all is booze.. I drink beers like they are free (castle lite) sometimes 24 a weeks plus a few G&T's and maybe a bottle of wine or two.. its the one thing I won't compromise on.. I suppose tonic is probably filled with sugar so that's no great..

It's not easy.... Saying that I've just come back from London and JHB and it a lot easier in SA and seems easier in KZN..... a lot of KZN restaurants now have a "low Carb" or "Carb Conscious"... Lets hope it's not just a fad..

Looks like this is going to be a life time change for me.. Hope I can stick to it, taking a pill everyday and joint pains really suck..!

Hope this inspires someone to try a diet change..!

If you aren't having breakfast but still aren't feeling hungry, there's no real need for it.

Just querying about why maybe I'm not losing more weight and some advice since you seem to know a bit.
I have a bulletproof every morning because I don't have the time or opportunity to have anything at lunchtime. I can pull all the way through supper.

I don't really feel hungry at breakfast time but then if I wait till lunch to maybe have a bulletproof then I may not be hungry for supper which is my main meal.
Then if I don't eat supper then I'll be hungry at breakfast the next day and the the cycle starts again...

First question: Are you losing weight? It's not a race - if you are then keep doing what you're doing. The scale isn't the be all and end all but it will definitely help track progress. If you are, then stick to BPC in the morning and normal dinner in the evenings, it makes the most sense. Keep doing what you're doing.

If you aren't losing weight, or if you want to be more accurate and control how fast you're losing weight (as much as you can), you're going to have to calculate your TDEE and eat to a (bigger) caloric deficit.

Oh and don't forget water intake.

What Randhir said, but if I were you I would move the BPC to lunch if you can. This gives you +-18 hours fasting time (supper through to lunch), which will help the weightloss along as well.

As he said, this causes a knock-on effect that disrupts a normal routine.

I've lost 12 kgs over the last 18 months of Banting and this was rapid initially.
I went down to 70 kg at my lowest but now I'm stuck at 73kg.

What's TDEE?

2 liters per day

As mentioned I cannot do any food/beverage at lunchtime due to circumstances.

Yep. As stated above.
