The Banting/LCHF Thread

Nope, just those who don't advocate throwing the baby out with the bath water. No fruit or tomatoes indeed. It's nice to find something that works for you, but to advocate for not touching fruit or many veg because they were available for only one or two weeks a year to our ancestors... that's bull.

Is there a reason you deliberately and repeatedly misrepresent what he's saying?

Anyone watched this yet?

I apologize for going off topic as well, but are Keto meters available in SA? I've asked my pharmacy for one and they couldn't provide me with one. I've checked BoB with no luck. Google did not really help me. I'm close to PE ito walking in shop.

Yes - while the science in the middle did lose me a bit (boredom, not ignorance), this is the best anti sugar video I have watched. Highly recommend!

I have the following:

Urine Strips

Breath Meter
https://www.ketonix.com/

Blood Glucose / Ketone Meter

Strips

And yes that is R45 per strip! I bought from ebay for R9 per strip.

I got one from Dischem - they have these:

And they do blood glucose and ketones. They also sell the strips - not very cheap, but Discovery should cover them.

I got 10 strips with the machine - 10 for glucose and 10 for ketones, but extras will cost $$

It did look pretty balanced to me. The only part that might butt heads with die hard LCHF dieters is that he's good with fruit eaten whole - the fibre makes all the difference it seems. Also, the real issue is fructose while you have excess Kj in you already.

I think what you're experiencing is a situation where the staff don't know what a ketone meter is. I asked at Dischem and they shrugged their shoulders - a week later I was there and noticed it on the shelf. It was the last one though. I'm sure they can order for you too if you ask - same for Clicks.

I are having a questions for thou experts.

1) That last 2 days I've been completely static, and was just wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Now I know plateaus are to be expected, just want to make sure it's not me doing something wrong.

Last 2 days have basically been:
Breakfast: Bulletproof Coffee x 2 for both days
Lunch: Bacon and two boiled eggs for both days
Dinner: Chicken salad for one, Just a steak for the other (loadshedding stopped me from making anything with it)

Is there something I should add that will maybe stimulate fat loss, ie: more fatty foods, or something like that?

2) Then another question: The coconut oil I got, when I opened it for the first time, it was like a oil/lard mixture, but now it's completely just oil. That's fine right?

I think you should be eating a bit more veggies like cauliflower. Don't think you're getting enough fibre.
