The Banting/LCHF Thread

is if i'm very strict on carbs, what kind of fat loss do you guys think i can expect and over what time period, consider i'm so much overweight?

Fast at first. Like 3 or 4 kilos in the first week.
Then it will slow down and PROBABLY average out around a kilo a week, with the odd pause, followed by a sudden drop. A lot will depend on exercise as well. Walking is fine.

Yeh. I have treadmill at home. Have dusted it off, will attempt to walk it when the flu passes, if i'll get it. So will aim to start treadmilling next week as well.

Seeing the doc next week monday for a full medical as well.

Make sure you ask him for a lipogram / differential cholesterol - one that breaks down the components (HDL, LDL, triglycerides). Then in 6 months get the same again, assuming you've been good, and marvel at how your LDL and trigs have dropped through the floor and HDL is up...

Primi has a option to make your burger Banting Freindly by replacing fries with zucchini fries and the bun with a bed of Lettuce.

Must say it was good.

why does the container look like a cardboard box?

Its the table under it. It looks like those lunch boxes. But the box part is an glass oven dish, so you can make something and then freeze it for later or whatever.

Some confusion regarding coffee.

Originally it was "coffee as much as you like" (with cream not milk).

Then it was just coffee (with cream not milk).

Then I came across this:

TOP 10 REASONS WHY YOU’RE NOT LOSING WEIGHT EATING LCHF

Caffeine – caffeine is a stimulant which increases you adrenaline (short term hormone that gets you out of danger – “fight or flight”). It stimulates the liver to release glucose from its glycogen stores. What happens next? This new high level of glucose causes insulin to be released again, fat gets stored and fat burning turns off. If weight loss has stopped, can’t sleep, too stressed, stop the caffeine. You don’t have to give up your coffee, but just has a decaffeinated coffee and see how you feel.

How much coffee you guys drink and is it normal or decaf?
