The Banting/LCHF Thread

Woolies now sell low-carb cauliflower topped Cottage and Shepherd's pies for those on LCHF. A bit expensive at R45 but very convenient.

Casalotti pizza now comes with a cauliflower base. A bit pricy but bloody yummy

Help. I started following a low-carb diet a few months ago. Everything been going fine. But in the last week I've started suffering with Restless Legs at night. I believe this is what's it's called anyway, it's an insane almost itching feeling in my feet and in the last few nights in my hands, like I have to move them but moving them doesn't help. I've read low-carb can mess with electrolytes, can this be what's happening to me? Does anyone have experience in this? Please tell me what to eat. A bowl full of sugar. An oven full of bacon. I don't care just please make this stop before I start hacking limbs with a knife. I can feel it start around 6-7pm and it doesn't seem to end until early hours of the morning. It is torture. :(

Go see your doc. It could be an electrolyte or iron thing

LCHF products are expensive because of the low demand. There are a few LCHF related subreddits which (for me) seem to be good enough as resources.

@FoamBone, like Sinbad said see a doctor. You can make an electrolyte beverage by drinking chicken broth with some extra spices, and iron you can get from spinach and liver.

Just went to go stock up on my banting snacks..
big bags of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds and biltong.

Where can I find flax seed bread or other allowed bread products? Food Lover's doesn't stock it.

Wellness Warehouse sells flax seed products, but they're really pricey. They also sell almonds for R163/kg :D

Thanks :). Besides Flax Seed bread, are there any other alternatives?

To bread? Google "cloud bread". I used to make them and use them as the bread for bacon and egg with cream cheese sandwiches.

Also almond flour buns. I've made a roti-type of thing with that recipe as I don't have silicon large muffin tins.

That cloud bread sounds interesting.

The last and only "bread" that I made wasn't good, had a wierd taste
