The Banting/LCHF Thread

Fanie here is my typical eating plan. Follow this and you really cannot go wrong:

Breakfast
3 eggs fried/scrambled in 1 tbsp of butter or coconut oil
half a packet bacon
3 cherry tomatoes
whole or half an avo if you can find any

Lunch
Handfull of biltong/droeewors

Dinner
Braai 'n tjoppie/ steak /chicken /fish no larger than the palm of you hand
cream spinach/greek salad/veggies from the green list

Drink lots of water and don't skip on salt (himalayan salt)

Its very easy

Don't use any sugar of any form, no bread/rice/pasta etc.

Thanks man.

I had some scrambled eggs this morning, with some bacon.

Having some scotch eggs that i made from a LCHF recipe.

Tonight having a bunless burger, and a lekker mushroom with cheese and garlic :)

Don't worry. I'm in third week of zero alcohol.

It's all about priorities at the end of the day :)

Good man I'm still chugging down wine and whiskey. Will end that at start of February. I'm doing them one thing at a time.

I'm very full of crap when it comes to food. Probably why I'm dik. I'm not very keen on veggies, so will mostly have to eat salads I guess. And mushroom.

I have this up coming weekend plan for a while now, which I'll definitely have some beer. But after that I'll have none. No alcohol. Really want to use this week (Mon - Thurs) to really try and nail down some recipes and work out a doable daily menu. So not to say that I'll take these 4 days not serious. It'll be as serious as it will be from next week, just have to get used to the no breads and stuff.

Anyone have advice on what I can do about the "i don't eat most veggies" thing. I know I'll probably end up force feeding me some, but which ones is probably another question.

Cauli-rice...
Deep fried julienne courgettes...

nevermind the alcohol, is diet drinks not also on the red list? definitely not on green, right?

Because of the artificial sweeteners - which won't harm your weight loss, unless you're VERY unlucky (some people get an insulin response to the taste)

ok. i'll just stay away completely. especially at the start. need to kick start the weight loss so the motivation stays in place.

Alcohol is the worse disruption.

I chugged away A LOT of wine each week :p Besides the sugar you tend to eat more as well.

Now I get home and have sparkling water or rooibos iced tea or cappuccino instead. Also because most of the meals usually involve cooking I enjoy the hour or so I spend in the kitchen in the evening. My bacon wrapped asparagus dish last night was awesome.

Once I've reached my first target I will reward myself with a neat brandy and 80%+ dark chocolate once a week.

is if i'm very strict on carbs, what kind of fat loss do you guys think i can expect and over what time period, consider i'm so much overweight?

This is the recipes section. Pretentious names make things taste better ;)

;) gotcha. so i learn :D

O, and I remember eating those things when I tried something a while ago which involved roasted veggies. they were probably the only thing I could stomach without taking a big sip of water with it.

Remember at the end of the day weight loss is when you consume less calories than your body uses. Right now I would say think about health benefits and adjust to the new lifestyle. Weight loss will occur naturally.
