The Banting/LCHF Thread

I've been feeling the same. Actually I'm feeling bit tired, maybe it's the heat. Bulletproof coffee doesn't give me any extra boost or energy. I have tried it with coconut oil and MCT, same result

@Fanie - My coconut oil is the same. It's the heat..

This makes sense. Yesterday I was in a hot fcking office which only had tap water. Had 4 big glasses and didn't feel the need to tinkle once. Only did so when I got home about 15h30. Fooksakes! :D

Thanks.

As they've said. Drink more water - 3L+/day. Eat more fibre - cauliflower, spinach, cabbage etc.

And stop weighing yourself so often. You're in this for the long haul.

Thank you for all the links.
I did not follow them last night, because I was on my cell and my eyesight is bad and struggle on the phone. Add to that, my PC's PSU died as well.
So only got to it this morning.

I will see if my pharmacy can get those strips and especially if my medical aid will pay for it.
Another option are the urine strips.
Have you used it? Do the colors equate to these readings?

Below 0.5 mmol/L is not considered “ketosis”. At this level, you’re far away from maximum fat-burning.
Between 0.5-1.5 mmol/L is light nutritional ketosis. You’ll be getting a good effect on your weight, but not optimal.
Around 1.5 – 3 mmol/L is what’s called optimal ketosis and is recommended for maximum weight loss.

Urine Strips -
I do like the idea that they do 10 different tests as well.

For veggie ideas:
  • Cauli, broccoli and chicken breast fillets, slice them all up, add them them to the wok with soy sauce. Alternatively, make green thai curry and the veggie taste will be drown in the coconut milk + curry taste
  • Cabbage I like cutting into strips, boiling them until they're soft, then finishing them off in the frying pan with whatever meat
  • Baby marrow I make those zucchini noodles you keep hearing about: cut with julienne peelers, sweat them in the oven to dry them out, then cook. If you skip the sweating part they'll be all soggy
  • Spinach I cook with garlic and nutmeg in the wok, then drown in creme fraiche (or cream/butter if I don't have any) with dinner, or I cut it into small pieces and add it to breakfast omelettes along with mushrooms
  • Lettuce, cucumber, onions, feta cheese and olives for a side salad with lunch
  • If you can be bothered to find radishes, they allegedly make a decent potato chip substitute
If the veggies taste too bland, just keep adding cheese and spices until they taste better :D

Try starting your day with a teaspoon of unrefined salt in water. Something like pink himalayan, do not use refined table salt.

reason for advocating pink expensive hippiesalt?

Salt is sodium chloride... end of story?
