The Banting/LCHF Thread

Going shopping sometime this weekend for LHCF friendly ingredients and the like.

Anything that should definitely be on the list?

Always good to be prepared. Freezer stuff which I stocked up this morning:
Blocks of butter for cooking and eating
Hamburger patties from a trusted butcher - quick defrost and fry for supper
Pork rashers in set quantities - easy to defrost and cook for supper
250g packs of streaky bacon from trusted butcher: because bacon goes with everything

Bacon - Check
Eggs - Check
Steak - Check
Butter - Notice a couple people mentioning Almond or Macadamia Butter. That better than the normal salted butter by Clover?
Salt - Check
Spinach - Check
Cream - Check
Chicken - Check

--------------

Any banting friendly crackers I can purchase? For snacks and the like?

Anything like that from the 'old lifestyle' you gotta make yourself. I've made buns, bread, crackers, muffins and even cookies already. Yes, a little mission but so much tastier and all banting friendly.

Well, I'm hoping I didn't break my diet too much this morning. Took the wife and little ones to the beach ( stunning day in durbs ) and went to Milky lane. Stuck to a berries and cream pancake, I think the berries and cream should be fine, there was some sugar sprinkled around but tried to avoid it.

Just jump back on.

I went on a boys weekend last weekend. I probably had about 3 cases of beer and had my own bottle of jagers. Had boerewors rolls and garlic bread, chips etc.

On Monday morning I've picked up 5kg. By yesterday I've lost it again ;)

Are the recipes online?

I had that the other day ....... 2 slices of banting bread, macadamia nut butter and some blueberry 'jam' (butter, berries and 1 tsp xylitol on the stove for 10 mins) :D

Many of us still have 200g of carbs and still lose weight.

Trouble is, if I give myself an inch I'll take a mile :)

First thing is to try the low carb bread so I'm on my way to buy flax seeds now.

.....and some nut butter.

Be wary of the flax, it's a damn strong taste and I dislike it a lot and have taken to excluding it from everything. Just buy a small packet/amount to test with ;)

OK tks, is there a pleasant substitute?

Or I can just leave it out of the recipe.
