The Banting/LCHF Thread

At what stage is enough, enough? My father in law is on this banting diet now, have been for a while because his girlfriend said so. Anyway, I saw him for the first time this Saturday past. The looks like he has a disease such as cancer... He has lost weight but he looks like bleak, like he has faded away. Now I know you should participate in a diet because you feel you need to, not because someone else says so... but sense he has none.

what do you mean by bleak, is he looking ill and unhealthy?

ok, and banting friendly? where do you get it? what's it called?

i've got a light olive oil (100% olive not mixed) that pretty much neutral tasting and worked
great when i made mayo ... even added a few extras chillie and garlic is my fav so far greate
on everything ;)

Hellman's
That's what I've been using since I started banting; best mayo ever! It tastes lekker! And Good Lord! It was on sale a while ago at Checkers Hyper: 3 for R100. Bought myself a whole bunch of these.
But I was wondering: They use soybean oil in that mayo. Is it banting allowed?

made this breakfast the other day....sausage frittata

check it out from 2:19...really easy and delicious

a lot of them are around online yes, luckily I have the Low Carb Is Lekker book to guide me :D

I've been thinking of purchasing "Low Carb is Lekker".

The only thing putting me off is the fact that I don't eat red meat: only chicken, fish & vegetables.

Question: does the book have sufficient non-meat recipes to justify its purchase ?

Soy ist verboten on Banting.

100 is still waay too much for me. I literally only eat things which are low low low on carbs. Even the Fatty yoghurts still have too much carbs for me. I don't actually count anymore, but only use the products that are know are super low carb.

I guess this is the best idea. I've cut down on the double cream yoghurt now and just have a tablespoon full mixed into the cream

Just check the carbs and transfats, Hellmans is zero afaik.

First I thought this ^

Just check the carbs and transfats, Hellmans is zero afaik.
Then when I did this ^, I told myself "I'm good".

Edit: I just saw this on Makro website: Hellmanns-Makro
Compared to the one I was talking about: Hellmanns
The ingredients seem different. The one from Makro is made out of Sunflower oil and it's only 55% of it whereas the other one uses soybean oil and it's 75% of it.
Has anyone tried the one from Makro vs the other one?
