The Banting/LCHF Thread

R31.95 each at Woolies (for two), R26.90 each at Pick n Pay :D

Pick n Pay also has 200g (100g drained) black and green olives for R10.50, not idea what the quality is like though. And 400g Feta for R31.00

which PnP, definitely not at mine?

I might sound stupid, but please allow me...
How do you know whether you are under ketosis state or not? Apart from urine strips.
Do you go for blood test? How often?
Or is there another much simpler way?

Soy may be a banned product on Banting/lchf however it's not because of carb content but rather because soy is considered toxic. However, I have mayo maybe once a fortnight and in limited quantities, probably no more than a tablespoon at a time, so I'm not going to stress about it. If I was chowing soy products everyday and guzzling down Hellman's by the jar then its a different story.

My approach is to at least apply a level of thinking to what you're eating, how much and how often.

Completely agree, also most soy is GM but like you say, in smallish quantities it makes no difference.

Always amazes me that when you make the effort with banting stuff (like a half dozen each of buns, muffins, biccy's and enough cauli mash to feed an army, lol), how well you can eat and still lose cm's and weight every week. I know I'm not being super strict, probably coasting the 50g a day line and only doing gym 3 days a week but I'm happy with my results.

Lindt 85% 100g is 19g carbs per 100g IIRC, so 1.9g per block. Personally I usually have one block every other day.

Buy 2, save R10 - At Woolies.
14g carbs per 100g slab. That makes it 7g per person when I share with my wife.
Second slab will have to be next week's treat. :)

I've heard that being in ketosis makes your breath stink - so that could be one way - unless you have naturally awful breath.

Does anyone know where the best place to buy cocoa butter is? I'm looking at making coconut chocolate bars... Yum.

just had the Woolies Carbfriendly Thai Red Curry Chicken, probably the best of their Carbfriendly meals I've had so far

My wife moans at me all the damn time. I have resorted to chewing a peppermint sugarfree gum before going to see clients just in case.

I have never been told my breath stinks until I started banting. It is most potent from waking up until my first meal late morning.

Doesn't bother me so I am all out of F's
