The Banting/LCHF Thread

My Cholesterol not looking to good.

January:
Total: 7.5 (2.8-4.9)
Triglycerides: 2.9 (0.5-1.6)
HDL Cholesterol: 0.9 (1.0-1.6)
LDL Cholesterol: 5.4 (1.6-2.9)

June:
Total: 7.1 (2.8-4.9)
Triglycerides: 1.7 (0.5-1.6)
HDL Cholesterol: 1.0 (1.0-1.6)
LDL Cholesterol: 5.3 (1.6-2.9)

Better, but still not close to ideal. :(

Don't stress. Your Trig is way down, which is the important one

(From what I've read) your cholestrol levels increase when you're losing weight.

And as bob mentioned, triglycerides and LDL particle count are more important than the overall value

Yeh, I would've hoped that LDL would've come down a lot more than what it did. Only 0.1, so really just staying the same. trig has come down well though.

:)

It's kind of weird, growing up we were continuously told how salt and cholestrol are going to kill you, that if you eat fat you'll get fat, and that you should eat as much fruit as you can. And then there's the whole trans-fats and sugar added to everything deal... sigh *rambles*

That's why, after 30-40years of "FAT IS BAD" preaching, there is so much objection to the new correct info that Fat is good, sugar is bad. People can't get their head around. I buy biltong with tons of fat on and the cashiers freak out. I buy steaks with huge fat on and the same cashiers tell me I am going to die.

Spur carb conscious breakfast has 3 eggs on it! That was unheard of a few years ago as eggs were considered bad for cholestral and you would die!

So far I'm happy with my progress, went from ~115kg to 105kg and 44 size pants to 40. Started with my 6th week and introduced some mild exercise this morning from http://darebee.com/workouts.html (spiderman) Easy to do workouts, had me panting 15min in, Im so unfit :o

Awesome - there is no need to be fat. I went from 126kg, this morning I did 95.7... Lot's of proper banting and no gym...

Lots of water all day. Coffee at 8am / 10am and 5pm. More water with supper

Either 1x Monster AZ or a Pepsi lite on the weekend

i do water 90% of the time. do a coffee in the morning with cream, and on the weekends i'll grab a monster absolute zero. i struggle with water during dinner, but rather just not drink anything at all, until afterwards.

I have an ice tea that I make with three slices of lemon 4 bags of rooibos tea in a 5lt jug, adding a few spoons of xylitol for taste.
Last week we went to the movies and I only bought a 500ml water, I usually buy a larger popcorn and 1.5l Coke, was so hard, I miss coke.

I seldom drink water, about 4 cups of coffee a day and a glass of red wine with supper

Water should really be the drink that you try to get onto though. Try buying some lemons and dropping a slice or two into it. Or squeeze some lemon juice into it. Only a small amount to get you more used to drinking water. Then after a while, you can drop the lemon and the water will go down just fine.

You get to a point where you only really want water as a cold drink.
