The Banting/LCHF Thread

Randhir, how did u do the cream spinach? I actually want to do some tomorrow for dinner but cant find a recipe

I use the bag spinach, think it's McCains. Steam the frozen spinach, sweat some onions and garlic, add in some spices (pepper/nutmeg), then add cream and reduce it a bit, dry the spinach and add it in.

Actually, I think it's a Chef John recipe, will see if I can find it.

Does anyone here know where I can get Canderel Stevia tablet refills from?

All I can find are the dispensers with 100 tablets in them...

Regarding the cholestrol topic from last week, I came across this that I thought might be of interest:

"The same is true for the occassional elevation of cholestrol that will occur with fat loss - a condition known as transient hypercholestrolemia - and that is a consequence of the fact that we store cholestrol along with fat in our fat cells. When fatty acids are mobilized, the cholestrol is released as well, and thus serum levels of cholestrol can spike. The existing evidence suggests that this effect will vanish with successful weight loss, regardless of the saturated-fat content of the diet."

So im gonna give this a bash. I ate so much bread last week and felt sh#t the ennnnnnnnnntire week, like i was sick (headaches, light headed) and i swear its from the bread, as soon as the weekend hit and i didn't have any i felt 1000x better.

Last night i made the garlic cauliflower mash, some mixed veg and fish. Hopefully i can continue, MUR is a diffuclt place to cut out carbs (bread & rice & noodles with everything)

Cut and replace. Cauli, bacon and cheese makes a awesome side with anything. Cauli mash vs mashed potatoes, cloud bread vs normal bread, large mushrooms instead of buns. Make cauli rice to replace rice and noodles can be made with some vegies cut up lengthwise.

Had "spaghetti" bolognaise last night - mince on a bed of cauliflower, sliced lengthwise veg replacing pasta and normal sliced vegies as well.

What did I have for dinner last night?

Cauli, bacon, mushroom, cheese side dish!

Want to wager a guess what I'm having for lunch today?

nee man. no cheese? no feta? blasphemy! :p

Seems like I'm on the right track with the cauli bakes :D

My current go-to for the veg portion of meals is mixing riced cauliflower, egg, onion, bell pepper, garlic, ginger, mushroom, olives, feta and spices in a bread tin and then bake it. I hope I didn't miss anything?

Dont think I will buy the lindt again. Way tooooo bitter. Maybe once a year thing since this will last a long time

how would you make that baby marrows?

I still wanna try the chocolate.

If they have a smaller slab you should try that. The wrapper inside is really fancy and comes with a warning on how to eat it :)

Not sure if I get the first question?

It would be cheaper to buy the marrows and cut myself, but I could never get it that thin. I should invest in a machine or something. Wanted to try this with some sausages. Should taste good, I hope.
