The Banting/LCHF Thread

I started banting again about 9 weeks ago. First 4 weeks I lost 6kg. Next 5 weeks I lost nothing at all !

Keep at it. The weight loss will come again. Have you done anything different with your diet?

What do you eat?

Bought this this morning. Tasty!

Nice find there. Such a pity that they make it low fat though.

I just started this banting eating style about a week and half ago. I also run 2km a day. However, my weight has remained the same. I also struggle at work. I feel like I can't make it in the day and I get tired and lose focus on my work. I also tend to get headaches. Later in the day. Not sure if I am too little banting food.

eg today I had 70g about of double thick yoghurt.
1 avo
5 thin slices of chorizo,
6 slices of cheese,
lots of water.
I haven't had supper yet.

I read a few pages back and I saw someone say they had to increase their salt intake to increase there mental performance.

I also am on a betablocker.

Just keep going, you are experiencing what sounds like Keto flu. Yes, you feel kark at least the first 2 weeks, and then suddenly you feel awesome.

With Keto flu you basically feel like you have flu-like symptons, headaches, etc. You basically have withdraw symptons from the lack of sugar that your body craves... Just keep going, things will look much much better within the next week!

Withdrawal effects. Quite normal and may persist for 2-3 weeks.

@Rhandir, "What are your actual macros?" - I don't know what that means

Wow can't believe one can get withdrawal effects from changing food like that. So we can get addicted to sugar. That is scary.

So to end off that day, I had about 70g raw salmon, almost half a round thing of feta, about 10 mini tomatoes, 2cm of about 2cm diameter cucumber, and 20g of caring candies sugar free chocolate. total carbs from the chocolate would have been 1.5g.

I woke up starving, but now it has passed and I don't feel hungry right now (it is 9am when writing this)

I have another question, I will soon start riding my bike for 2 hours or more at a time. what type of food and drink can an athlete use when doing physical exercise for long periods when they are on a lchf diet?

If you wake up hungry, eat fatty foods ie: cheese , avo, fat nuts ( walnuts ). Also have a large drink of water.

Someone mentioned betablockers? I'm also on them, no problems with it just keep monitoring as I know my pressure went down significantly.

Get the app MyFitnessPal and start logging the food you eat. "Macros" that Randhir is talking about, are the macronutrients that make up the calories of the food you eat. So basically he is asking "How many carbs, fat and protein are you eating every day".

@Randhir what is a good why to determine how much of eat group to eat on LCHF? Or does it depend on a per-person basis?

Ya, I am on betablockers. I will never come off them because I have AF.

When do you propose to eat those, in the morning?

Fanie covered it quite well. Basically you need to know what you're eating so you can program your diet. In order to do this you have to track your caloric input.

I've usually seen 30% protein, 65% fat and 5% carb as the usual distribution.

And to the latter part of the question, I reckon everything is dependent on a per-person basis, but you have to start somewhere and work from there.

Are Kiri cheeses considered processes cheese?

Yes

Yes
Kiri is cream cheese, high fat as well. What's wrong with that?
