Cool, thanks. I am going to make a concerted effort to stay in ketosis soon, if I'm not there already with 24 hour fasting. In fact my concern RE protein is that I am having too much and it's kicking me out of the state.

My length is about 1.78 metres, I think.

Will try the calculator.
Info is from the FB group
Keto saved me Group.

They are high protein /LCHF or zero Carb group. Their protein intake would probably be a bit higher than LCHF.

Think they are looking at about 1.8g per kg Lean Body Mass.

They are a bit heavy on the science at times, but an interesting group.

According to their chart you should eat 122 gram in protein per day and 68 - 135g of fat per day if you eat low carb.
Your LBM is 67.5kg.
Zero Carb and T2D have slightly different figures.

They advocate that when you are jet adapted, you should have a 1:1 protein fat ratio or a bit lower if you can. (between 0.75 - 0.8g per kg.)

If you are very active more to 1:1.

I am considering banting but slowly making changes to my diet. I gave up fizzy drinks for coconut water(no sugar, no additives).

Are you allowed Coconut water on banting?

What book should I get to begin banting?

Thank you.

Sorry if this is off topic or a random question.

Have you noticed any changes in your skin since banting. Is your skin clearer & has any acne disappeared?

Yep. Was still getting regular acne into my late 20s. Now I'll probably get 2 zits a month at most.

When do avocados come back in season? Those in stores now are horribly expensive and don't seem to be ripening properly (the ones I'm getting from Woolworths and PicknPay at least).

IIRC it's about May when the avo's seem to go back to being right on. The last few Haas I got from WW have been quite badly unripe/odd (I knew it was a risk though)

You can have coconut water but I would just have plain water.

This could be huge.

Professor Salim Yusuf, president of the World Heart Federation, makes the following statement "Contrary to common belief, the current recommendation to reduce saturated fat has no scientific basis.".

Some of the Spars in Gauteng are selling Avo's cheap. Agree avo's are overpriced and that includes Almonds.

Finally got the real meal revolution . Now it is probably in the thread somewhere but where do you guys get the banting basics such as coconut oil , almond flour etc and are they pricey?

coconut oil i get from dischem, but available everywhere, shop around for best price
almond flour and other flours i'm not too big into as I would rather stay away from bad stuff than try and get alternatives that sucks balls, and they are expensive, but dischem as well... my local spar has a special corner with some banting supplies as well

Checkers, Dischem, Food Lovers,

Keep an eye out for specials. Especially on oils.

Also try not to buy into the hype. I use coconut oil not the extra virgin, R39 vs R130. Lots of "rubbish" out there. Understand the principles of low carb and follow those, make your own decisions.
