In my opinion, Banting works best if you go into ketosis. This is where you eat very few carbs so your body burns ketones, from fat, for energy. Eat lots of veggies, meat, fish, and cheeses.

thanks

I did do the south beach diet a few years ago and that brought my weight down from 107kg to 95kg and I also cut out carbs.

at the moment I make & drink a fruit smoothie in the morning and prefer to do a veg stir fry in the evenings, but I seem to have hit a flat spot as far as loosing weight goes.

Yeah, you can go the "lazy" way and just watch carbs but eat whatever else you want. I do this most of the time.

You can also go the strict way and calculate and maintain a calorie deficit. More effective, but there'll always be intervals of stagnation in the weightloss.

Tried Shirataki Noodles today.

I'm conflicted.

Doesn't taste like anything on its own but I can actually see it working well as a pasta replacement for a nice spicy saucy mince mix.

But the texture is something that sort of puts me off. Kinda like raw calamari texture. And at R30+ per small packet it is unlikely that it will become a weekly meal addition in this house.

I must be the only one on myBB that likes them :D I find they work better as a substitute in asian/stir fry dishes than in italian/pasta type dishes. And yes, they're bloody expensive for what they are. No nutritional value, no taste, and a texture that most people don't like.

Have you tried making zoodles/zucchini noodles? If you don't have one of those spiralizer machines, you could always try buying a pack of pre cut noodles at Woolies or Pick n Pay to see if its worth investing in one of the machines.

It's not that I don't like them. Think it is just something to get used to.

Being on a bodybuilding cutting cycle at the moment I can certainly see a place for them to fill me up with almost no caloric effect. Price would be the biggest factor for me.

I've done the Zucchini noodles a few times as well. They are not bad but I find them to always make my dishes watery. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Tried shorter and longer cooking times with no difference.

I've never tried this, but in theory if you salted the Zucchini noodles first and let them sit in a collander, a lot of the excess water would drain away. The alternative is cooking them separately in another pan so that you can dispose of the excess water that gets in.

Lindt bars at R29.99 at Pick n Pay until Sunday the 5th of Feb. Includes 70% and 85%, excludes 90% and 99%

(I feel like half the posts I make on myBB are to give you guys heads up about Lindt discounts :'D)

There is a 75% Mild Lindt Dark Chocolate that is absolutely amazing. Haven't seen it in general stores though, mostly in the Lindt stores.

Its in Woolies.

I actually don't like it - the regular 70% tastes much more chocolatey. The Mild 70% doesn't have that much of a chocolate flavour for me.

personally I'm more a fan of 90% (if on special) but I'd rather get the 85%. Hardly ever buy 70%.

It's the Banting Revolution line Checkers are selling now. They have wraps to which look quite nice.

Thank you very much.

Yeah I know the new Revolution line at Checkers. Been buying their flaxseed powder for a while now. Just never seen these bases or wraps there before. Must be new additions in the past week or two.

Nutrition looks good. Will grab a pack of each next time we go grocery shopping.
