The Banting/LCHF Thread

wtf? you know bulletproof coffee needs to get butter AND coconut oil, right?

butter adds fat, and acts as the "milk" portion of the coffee
coconut oil is purely for the fat it adds. if you can replace the coconut oil with MCT oil, even better

(MCT oil) is an extract from coconut oils... the extract being the important parts of coconut oil.
Yebo yes I know this. Sorry for the typo there. Should have said bulletproof coffee with ONLY coconut oil.

My point actually was that it does not taste the same when EXCLUDING the butter.

For me in any case

Guys, got my LDL tested and it is too high :( - 3.3mmol/L. Recommended level is to be under 3. However, I have done some reading and there is a better test, the ApoB one, which looks at LDL particle size. Apparently this is a better indicator of artery clogging risk.

Unfortunately, I dont have my pre keto LDL level. Will see if I can find it. Will be interesting.

Keto tends to drop cholesterol, heck mine dropped too low that I take a Omega 3 supplement to ensure the healthy one stay up. Last combined reading was around 2.6\2.7

Saturday the wife pitched up at home with those Banting Revolution lammingtons.

Personal taste but that stuff is horrible. Only managed half a lammington before calling it quits and climbing into the fatty biltong she also brought home.

Yeah they're crap. I've tried the Woolworths low-carb ice creams and they're decent.

Hehe, mate of mine tried the lamingtons, absolutely hated them. Now he begs my wife to make him her LC brownies and has already bought it three times :p

Ah awesome,! they part of the carb clever range!!! i buy the gronal nut mix version of that for breakfast! Stoked to try out these ice creams!!!

Weren't ice creams originally made with cream and milk fat and then they cheapened it with using vegetable oils gross. So for the carb clever, what is different to traditional ice cream? Is it only the added sweetness comes from stevia or something?

I add a little fresh cream to enhance the flavour
