The Banting/LCHF Thread

I work next to a spar do go in daily and our spar hasn't had specials on butter in forever. I see the Kerrygold butter is R113 currently! Hahaha bloody hell.!

Jisliek thats madness. I'm going to seriously go check for cheaper butter this weekend around the area.

Wonder if you can make butter from maas. Maas is very good for banting, I know some recipes where you can make like cheese balls.

Stock up when you can. I saw it for around R70 and made sure I got a few.

I've never splurged on the Kerrigold but might give it a go seeing that other butter is not really cheaper than the current special anyway.

I basically only use it in my sauces and my caulimash and pea puree anyway. No BP coffee for me and I use coconut oil for most frying

What part of SA do you live that you don't have local grass-fed butter? Most farmers markets and health shops (even Wellness) stocks it at around R40 for a butter-sized block.

I'm merely relaying the price. Wouldn't pay that myself. R40 for a 500gr block of grass fed butter you say.? Would love some recommendations for JHB.

Same here. Maybe once in a while for frying some eggs.

For health or taste reasons?

Personally.

Just not a fan of BP coffee and the amount of frying I do it is much more cost effective for me to use coconut oil than butter.

Otherwise no other use for butter. Still need to try that egg peanut butter bread thing in the oven. Then I might use the butter on that too.

I make keto muffins most morning with either coconut flour or psyllium husk in the microwave. Works really well if in a pinch.

Why not more butter...

Oh. Just because apart from sauces and eggs I don't have a lot of use for it. Don't get me wrong, I love it (and the taste), but I don't think there's call for adding butter to most things unless you're severely under in your macros and/or hungry.

That's not to say I don't use it in other things. Just not often.
