The Banting/LCHF Thread

I use if often for lightly coating the steamed veg just to make it more palatable and of course when finishing of steaks etc. I don't use the coconut oil merely enough thinking about it.

Are you gonna stir the pot in every thread you post?

Are you talking about me? I don't worship the fat clogged diet and it makes me a troll? Keep stuffing the fat into your system and reap the horrible rewards later. Keep clogging up until nothing works properly anymore. We'll see how the fat gorgers die ten years from now. Gonna be ugly.

This was disappointing. It's pre-packed vacuum sealed steaks with a proper rump and the part just below that attached to it. I'll post a pic a bit later.
Ours was sold out over here, name was put on a list. Delivery promised on Tuesday at the same price. Will have to see what quality we get.

Guys have you seen this

Flip I forgot to take a picture of the ingredients. But it did say sugar. And then later stevia. So not sure what they on about.? Thought the carbs would be less :(
The same as Coke Life. They try to trick you with the green smooth talk. But there is still sugar mixed in together with the stevia. No good for banting.

I haven't posted for a while, but I got some good news! I broke 80kg. I am now on 78.9. Which means I have lost 16.1kg since march! Woohoo

Congrats! I've also lost about that much, it's amazing how better I felt after that.

Just seeing the number doesn't do it justice because it's hard to visualise, but think of it this way: that's not one, but one and a half of those big 10kg potato bags that used to be around your stomach, all gone.

In other news, I just saw this at the shop. R44 for 320g. I'm probably paying too much for the novelty of them just having cut them into circles, but I love haloumi...

Thanks swift! And you are right, it is hard to fathom that because it also took lots of discipline and 0 cheat days. It is so easy to say.

That halloumi burger looks great! Going to check it out!

Made 2 mini loaves of those PB & egg bread to go with a stew that has been in the slow cooker since 6am this morning.

Actually made them in the air fryer instead of the oven. Had a taste and a lot better than the microwave version.

Feedback on Woolies' Haloumi burgers: I found them a lot less firm than usual haloumi (both WW and Meze brand). I followed my usual cooking routine and I found it much harder than usual to get the cheese evenly browned and crispy. When it was done cooking it was about as useful at being a burger bun substitute as an omelette would have been.

Also, because of the plastic tray they're packaged in, the top two burgers are unevenly squashed (nitpicking :D)

Impressions: Thumbs down.

My suggestion: If you like haloumi, stick to the normal cheese block shaped options (PSA: Pick n Pay has new "Braailoumi" chilli flavoured ones from Meze, I tried them two weeks ago and can recommend them).

For burger bun substitutes:
  • fry the burger patties extra crispy and use them as the buns
  • make sunflower flour bread
  • make peanut butter bread like APoc showed off earlier
  • use big "griller" sized mushrooms (which I can never personally get to work)

On a side note, I have no idea how I'm going to survive both the impending egg shortage and the butter shortage...

whats the recipe and how long did you put it in the airfryer?

whats the recipe and how long did you put it in the airfryer?

3 eggs
3 tablespoons peanut butter (used black cat unsalted no sugar)
1 teaspoon baking powder

mix like mad man with hand whisk or electric mixer if you can find where the baby hid it.

Normal recipe calls for 20-25min in oven at 150c.

I had mine in the airfryer at 140 for 10min before I tested it. And it was done. Test with toothpick that should come out clean fro the bulkiest part. Can see the hole in my pic)

Obviously bigger portions/pans/ramekins will take a bit longer. And smaller, shorter. My portions came out just bigger than a KFC Mini Loaf if I need to compare it something.
