I was wondering if you could please perform these tests again at random intervals & on different days of the week; a sample size of 1 with no variance is not a true reflection and shouldn't be considered an accurate result.

This article is pointless. The results of the article are pointless.

Please do a proper test, using proper statisical methods for performing surveys.

I've had multiple dealings with the Telkom ADSL help desk recently & whilst I've also had a call answered within 5 minutes, I'd say the majority of my support calls end up unanswered as I put the phone down after 20 minutes. (no speaker phone here, it actually starts to hurt)

I think we all understand that these experiences are anecdotal. I imagine that most of those replying to this thread have functioned under the assumption that we didn't have to discuss the obvious fact that these experiences are not statistically significant studies into Telkom's helpdesk functionality.

Internet Solutions

Over many years of dealing with IS their GSC answers the quickest out of any operator. Just tried now 13:20. 011 575 0055, push 1, push 1, ring ring picked up. 36secs. :D

Only when Virgin was still new could any one else come close to this kind of speed. Now the best you can hope for is that there is a system to instantly leave your number and 30 mins later get a call back.

This is an excellent idea – maybe you can do the tests and forward the results to us?

Telkom ADSL support line sucks big time, I was waiting for 30 minutes on Friday before someone answered and then they could not help me.

If I were running myBB, or writing such articles, then maybe I would.

I have better things to do though. Better things to do than read pointless surveys which can't be relied on for lack of a meaningful sample size, or any variance.

RPM, if you are going to release articles on myBB with a title of

Telecoms helpdesks: The best and worst

and an intro paragraph of

The ICASA End-user and Subscriber Service Charter Regulations kicked in recently. We put the operators' helpdesks to the test.

then we, or at least I as a myBB forumite and regular reader, expect some type of meaningful test and survey to determine who really are the best, and worst. Otherwise change the title of the article, and the introductory paragraph. It is very misleading.

I'm just providing some constructive criticism. Use it, don't use it... it's up to you.

this article is a joke, i phoned telkom this morning, on 10217, number does not even work,

as for Mtn. Cell C, Vodacom - you get through to operators quicker calling from a contract sim than calling from a prepaid sim.Is there some type of preference set on their IVR's or am i just.......crazy???
