The BMW M2 & M2 Competition Thread

Got it on a Black Friday deal in 2021. Other than sucking fuel like a hoover she has been awesome.

Hardcore variant of BMW M2 to pack 473bhp punch

More potent version of hot coupe to be track-focused variant likely using CS or CSL badge

BMW is testing a stripped-back, hardcore version of its upcoming second-generation M2 Coupé.

The new model is expected to be badged either CS or CSL (the latter name has just been revived on the limited-run M4 CSL) and will follow the G87 M2, to be revealed next month, as a more potent, track-focused version of Munich’s baby performance car.

It will be similarly positioned to the previous-generation top-wrung M2 CS, which was the most hardcore version of the F87 M2 and a firmed-up variant of the celebrated M2 Competition.

This new car, pictured in the very early development stages at BMW’s Munich headquarters, was spotted with a more aggressive and lower front end complete with a splitter, plus an integrated rollover bar and a rear spoiler.

I had a service done in Sept 2022. Mileage was 24500. For those that are interested here is the invoice. They also quoted me R9k for 2 new front tires. Size 245/35 R19. Not sure what brand. My local BMW dealership is overall really good with their tire prices.

Don't think its too bad. Just worried about the tire prices. Like i said they usually excellent with their prices, but fsck, by the looks of things its gonna be R20+k per set. What was I thinking. Of course its gonna be moer expensive. The fronts are still fine for a couple of tanks i feel. Was more thinking the rears are gonna go first.

Back in 2012, the OEM 245/35R18 Bridgestone RE050A RFTs for my 135i was ~R3600 per tyre from TWT. Your tyres will definitely be better tyres, and it being 10 years later I don't think R4500 is that outrageous.

New BMW M2 Coming to SA M Fest

The new BMW M2 is due to be revealed in October 2022 and BMW will present the newcomer to local fans at M Fest in celebration of 50 years of M.

It’s a big year for BMW as the firm’s M division is celebrating 50 years of existence and we have already been graced with the reveal of the 405 kW M4 CSL, the fastest M car to date, as well as the M4 50 Jahre Edition of which only 5 will be offered locally.

BMW, however, is just gathering momentum and M fans have lots to look forward to because the reveal of the next-generation rear-wheel-drive M2 is around the corner. BMW recently teased the new M2 with a short video entitled, “The M2 is on its way. Get ready for playtime” (see below) and previously the M division released more details and images, confirming that the new M2 is in the final stage of testing.

Now, BMW is preparing for the global digital reveal of the new M2 in October 2022 and the firm will use the South African M Fest to publicly display the new M2 in the metal at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Gauteng on 15-16 October 2022.

New BMW M2 World Debut Taking Place at Kyalami BMW M Fest

In just a few weeks’ time, we will see the all-new BMW M2 (G87) revealed to the world and after which, it will make its first official public appearance at the BMW M Festival in South Africa at Kyalami on the 15th of October.

Considering how big the 2022 M Fest is expected to be, it is the perfect venue to take the covers off what is likely the last small ICE-powered coupe BMW M ever makes.

The new BMW M2 will also be the last small M car to feature a manual transmission, making it the last true driver’s car BMW will make with a piston engine. There will be many more exciting driver’s cars to come, soon with electric powertrains, but the M2 will truly be the last analogue machine BMW M ever makes, which is why it’s a huge deal that it’s being celebrated at the Kyalami circuit during M fest.
