The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

I need some help here

I just realized how puffy my face has become, like really fat. I'm still bulking so im guessing I'm also gaining fat even though I'm counting my calories.

I weigh 72kgs now. If i Start cut I feel I would look skinny again because I'm now really that big yet (height is 6ft) I do have some muscle now and fat ofcourse.

Any advice? Do I just continue the bulk till next year to like 80-90kgs before cutting

I am where you are buddy. Every time i put on a kg i feel so much fatter. But know that if i cut too early wont be worth it.
I would say power through to predetermined cutoff point say 80 or 85. Then start cut

Exactly! I did mini cut before and I lost some weight and felt smaller.. Basically waste of time. So if I cut now then I'd be going nowhere.

Just going to ignore the fat for now and bulk up till next year and hopefully hit 80-85 and see if I'm good enough to start cutting slow otherwise keep going with bulk till I'm comfortable

Don't cut slow. Your cut needs to be as quick as possible, But without your calorie deficit being to large that it becomes catabolic.
If your cut is drawn out, then you will lose muscle mass - get it done as quick as possible.

Are you sure? I read that you must pace it, like if you loose too much then you will lose alot of muscle mass. Any idea what's the recommended weight to lose a week/Month?

Either way I'm gonna start probably next year with a cut, maybe mid year till I get to like 80 or so

That's exactly what I meant by not cutting calories by too much that you go catabolic (muscle breakdown). But you don't want to drag it out.
Use a calculator to determine your 'maintenance' calorie requirement, then take off 10% and use that as a starting point.
Nothing is an exact science, your body is unique, so you'll have to play around a bit. My idea is 0.5 to 1kg per week is what to aim for. Same goes for bulking gains per week.

Guys how can you make your quads grow if you're back is messed up?
I have scoliosis and lordosis and anything that puts pressure on my back hurts. I can't squad more than 20 before my back gives in.
I find climbing stairs is good for the calves but what for tthev quads

Current weight is 64-65~

I feel very small, which is understandable because you know, I am. I guess I forgot how long it takes to actually put on mass so I can't be comparing myself now after 2 months vs the year +- I was at before.

Muscle memory was a thing, but it seems to have stopped now.
My bench press very quickly went up upon starting again and stalled at 60 kg. But I was able to get 70 x 5 two days ago, but from here on I feel like it will be like regaining all that muscle over again.

Also my bf% is higher than it was the last time I was benching 70 so that's also kind of iffy.
Funny how much your body can change in 2 years, but I'm different now to then (on chronic meds, less active, sitting at a desk all day instead of being active while studying PT) so that's definitely a factor.

And ofc, the biggest factor being my wrist :(

Just use the leg extension machine. It isolates your quads with no pressure on your back.

Or, squat without weights. Pay attention to doing the exercises in a slow, controlled manner, even pausing at the bottom for a few seconds if you can to really feel the burn. I get as good a workout doing different types of squats with a 12kg bar as I do when I leg press 400.

Any kind of free weight exercise is looking for trouble unless you consult a Biokineticist.

Fuaaaark

But yeah man, scoliosis etc is quite serious stuff depending on how severe it is. Your body will try to adjust for the imbalance so some of your muscles/tendons/ligaments etc. etc. will be tighter on one side than the other.

I got diagnosed with scoliosis by my physiotherapist back in 2013, but it is very minor. Severe cases bruh, you're lucky if you can even function normally, let alone exercise.

I sometimes it at the gym and wonder if anyone that posts here is in the gym at the same time as me. I could be walking past all ya'll and not even know it.

What about squatting while holding dumbbells?

Or goblet squats -> not sure what sort of strain this will put on your back though.

Hey Guys,

So been gradually upping my bench weight, starting to have issues with pain in my elbows. Currently at 1 rep max of 165, I weigh 82Kg. What can I do about my elbows?

Stop benching so damn much and your elbow will stop hurting :p

Do you wrap your elbows at all? If not maybe try some wraps / sleeves and see if that helps...

Rather address the cause rather than the issue. How is your bench form? Do you flare your elbows when you are benching?
